The prices of EVs are all set to go up as the Central Government has decided to reduce the Fame II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles) subsidy. To know what that means for you, read our report here.
The FAME 2 subsidy was introduced in India on April 1, 2019, and is applicable on electric vehicles that offer a minimum range of 80km, and a top speed of at least 40kmph. The subsidies are a sweet deal for EV buyers and could easily save up to Rs 55,000 on a brand new Ather 450X. However, with the subsidy being slashed from Rs 15,000 per kWh to Rs 10,000 per kWh, the effective price (excluding state-wise incentives, if any) of the Ather 450X is set to go up by Rs 32,500.
The FAME 2 subsidy was really working well in pushing a lot of buyers into buying electric 2-wheelers, especially given the increasing price of petrol. But going forward, the increased prices might become a deterrent to some buyers. Electric bikes like the Tork Kratos or Ultraviolet F77, which were not eligible for Fame II subsidy benefits, would anyway not witness any price change.

Best bike for reliability!I chose this bike because this is the most reliable bike in this price range and it is easy to trust electric bike for reliability. Other bike in this price range is ola roadster but that is not reliable and trustful. I rode this for long rides. Since I have this bike from last two years, I never faced any big problem like immediately switch off like other but with time its power slightly gets down which is normal and better. I bought this because from past 2 years this bike saved my fuel cost which will be equivalent to the price of bike so even it gets unusable after 4-5 years, this will not made impact because you can save very much fuel.Read More
