Ather is set to launch a more affordable electric scooter (Ather EL01) in the coming months. The brand’s CBO (Chief Business Officer), Ravneet Singh Phokela, said to media publication: “It will be priced lower than the current portfolio but not below the Rs 1 lakh mark, we have not finalised the pricing yet. The scooter based on the new EL platform will be launched in the next few months,” he said.

Strong Demand Lifts Sales
Electric scooter demand has picked up again recently, with industry penetration rising to about 9.7% in March 2026. Sales have also increased to around 1.6 lakh units, driven by festive demand and concerns around fuel prices. Ather’s market share has crossed 18%, placing it among the top three players. The company is also rapidly expanding its network and aims to reach around 700 stores this fiscal year.
BikeDekho Says
Ather plans to keep its focus on performance, features, and build quality – using cost efficiencies rather than feature cuts to reduce price. While the upfront price of the scooter will be above Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom), the company might be able to make it more affordable using BaaS (Battery as a service). This is similar to what they did with the Ather Rizta, that now starts from around Rs 75,000. One of the officials from the brand reportedly said that such an affordable electric scooter will be crucial to expand into the northern regions of the country. This segment accounts for a large share of electric two-wheeler sales, making it important for growth.
