Pedaleze Offers India’s First E-Bike With Smartphone Connectivity

The e-bikes come also come with a unique adaptive pedal assist feature

Daijo, a Chennai-based startup, has launched the country’s first connected electric cycle under its brand Pedaleze. The company has introduced three models: O2, C2, and H2. Prices range from Rs 79,999 to Rs 86,499.

So what makes these pedelecs worth so much?

For starters, unlike most pedal-assisted electric cycles, which use a hub motor, the Pedaleze lineup comes with a mid-mounted 250W unit capable of producing 80Nm. This motor is equipped with the brand’s adaptive power drive. The current crop of e-bikes uses cadence sensing (which works when you start and stop pedalling), while the level of assistance has to be selected manually.

Pedaleze’s unique torque-assisted pedalling senses the force applied on the pedal to alter the level of assistance required. All the e-bikes come equipped with a 7-speed Shimano derailleur to make pedalling easy.

Furthermore, the Pedaleze e-bikes come with 7Ah (C2 and O2) and 8.6Ah (H2) Samsung-sourced lithium-ion removable battery packs. All the e-bikes can be connected to a smartphone via the Pedaleze app to check rider and vehicle telematics - another feature unique to this brand.

Pedaleze has equipped these e-bikes with equally impressive hardware. They are constructed using the sturdy Aluminum 6061 alloy for the frame. For the rim, H2 and O2 get magnesium alloy units while the C2 comes with a simple wire-spoke setup. Braking setup consists of discs at both ends, while for suspension, Pedaleze has equipped these with preload-adjustable hydraulic forks. While these are hardtail e-bikes, the seat post itself has a suspension, so going over big bumps won’t be that painful.

The Pedaleze e-bikes can be purchased through their website or the retailers in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. It competes with e-bikes from EMotorad and Hero Lectro. However, the Pedaleze e-bikes are superior in terms of motor and features.
