Hero Motor Corp., the new name for the Hero Honda Group, post the split from the fruitful association of Hero Group and Honda Motor Company, is a brand new entity in itself. One of the first few products that the Hero Motor Corp. lines-up for the launch is an on-off road dual purpose motorcycle. This is going to be the first ever dual purpose motorcycle, Hero Motocorp Impulse, from the Hero Motor Corp to be launched on the Indian roads.

The dual purpose motorbike launched by Bajaj Enduro SX is not supposed to be a major success. The Hero Motor Corp. intends to explore the new horizons with the launch of the Hero MotoCorp Dirt Bike on cards. However, Hero is not a complete stranger in the dual purpose motor bike segment, counting its experience with Hero-BMW Funduro 650 in the nineties, which did not see the victory due to its high pricing and lack of demand in that time period for the on-off road vehicles.

The Indians are more open to innovativeness of late with increase in their spending capacity and are more likely to accept the dual purpose vehicles readily. The Hero Motor Corp. has its bets high with the impending launch of their on-off road motorbike that has been already spotted on the streets performing road tests.

The dual purpose motor bike Impulse is anticipated to come with a 150 cc four stroke engine, similar to any other 150cc Hero Honda bike, but using the CRF 150 motor that had been incorporated in the Hero Honda Hunk, Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme and Hero Honda Achiever. The pictures of the Hero’s on-off road dual purpose vehicle reveal a raised front suspension with excellent ground clearance provided with an under seat exhaust to complete the off road package. The motorcycle is speculated to be launched towards the end of this year.
