The electric two-wheeler segment in India has undergone a remarkable transformation, transitioning from primarily serving the low-speed segment to premium, feature-rich EVs made in the country itself. As we celebrate this year's World EV Day, let's delve into the electric two-wheelers that debuted in 2023 and the eagerly anticipated electric bikes and electric scooters slated for release before this year closes out.

Here's a glimpse of what to anticipate by the close of 2023:

Kinetic Green e-Luna: The iconic Luna is set to make a return, this time in an electric avatar. The Kinetic Green e-Luna, offering a fresh take on a classic, is expected to hit the market in late September.

TVS iQube ST: TVS unveiled the iQube ST, the top-end variant of their iQube electric scooter, a while back. After several delays, enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting its launch, with hopes high that it will finally debut by year-end.

Raptee Electric Bike: An exciting electric bike from Raptee Motors, a Chennai-based EV startup, has been spotted testing and is likely to make its debut toward the end of the year, potentially in November or December.

Orxa Mantis: Bengaluru-based Orxa introduced the Mantis electric bike at IBW 2022, with plans to launch it by the close of 2023. This aggressively styled bike boasts promising features and mechanics, likely positioning itself just below the Ultraviolette F77 in terms of pricing and range.

Now, let's recap the key EV launches in India throughout 2023:

Ather: Ather kicked off the year by launching an updated 450X, subsequently discontinuing the lower-spec 450 Plus and offering the 450X at two different price points. In June, they launched their most affordable scooter yet, the 450S.

Ola Electric: In February, Ola Electric launched the S1 Air in three trims. On Independence Day, they launched the S1 Pro Gen 2 and the S1 X range of scooters.

TVS: August saw the launch of the TVS X electric scooter, loaded with innovative features and sporty hardware.

Simple Energy: Simple Energy finally launched its e-scooter, the One, boasting an impressive specification sheet, sporty design, and practicality.

Bajaj: Bajaj rolled out the 2023 Chetak electric scooter, featuring notable updates.

Ultraviolette: Ultraviolette introduced the limited-production Space Edition of the F77, which sold out quickly despite its high price.

Tork Motors: Tork Motors launched the more affordable 'Urban' variant of the Kratos R electric motorcycle.

Kabira Mobility: Kabira Mobility launched the KM5000, claiming it to be India's fastest electric bike with the longest range, though deliveries are scheduled for 2024.

Matter: Gujarat-based Matter launched its first electric bike, the Aera 5000, in two variants and featuring India's sole liquid-cooled motor, battery, and gearbox.
