River Indie Latest Updates:

River is a Bengaluru-based EV startup, and the company launched its first product, the Indie electric scooter. The Indie is a rugged yet funky take on the premium electric scooter segment, and you can read all about it in our launch story here.

River Indie Price:

The River Indie comes at an introductory price of Rs 1,24,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru, including FAME II subsidy). It is available in three colours: Monsoon Blue, Summer Red and Spring Yellow. Preorders are open on River’s official website for Rs 1,250, and the deliveries will commence from August 2023.

River Indie Features:

The River Indie comes with funky looking twin-LED headlights, and the tail light as well as the indicators are LED as well. It gets a light-sensitive LCD instrument cluster, a massive LED-lit 43-litre underseat storage along with a 12-litre lockable glove box with a USB charging port. There’s an additional USB port on the handlebar as well. Other notable features include a pair of rider footpegs, crash bars integrated into the apron, saddle stays, raised clip-on handlebars, hazard lights, and a side-stand motor cut-off function.

River Indie Battery And Motor:

The River Indie is powered by a 6.7kW (peak) mid-mounted motor linked to a belt drive. It generates 26Nm peak torque, and propels the e-scooter to a claimed top speed of 90kmph. 0-40kmph comes in at 3.9 seconds, and the e-scooter gets three riding modes: Eco, Ride, and Rush. The motor is linked to a 4kWh lithium-ion battery pack that can offer a claimed real-world range of 120km. The battery takes five hours to charge from 0-80% using a standard charger. 

River Indie Suspension And Brakes:

The River Indie rolls on large 14-inch alloy wheels suspended on a telescopic fork up front and a pair of preload-adjustable shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is via a 240mm front and a 200mm rear disc with CBS as standard. The ground clearance stands at a decent 165mm, whereas the seat is 770mm tall. The e-scooter can wade through 300mm of water.

River Indie Rivals:

Notable rivals of the River Indie include the Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, Hero Vida V1, and the TVS iQube Electric. Other alternatives in its same price bracket include the Vespa VXL 125, Yamaha FZ-S Fi Version 4.0, Hero Xtreme 200S, and the Hero XPulse 200T.
