The Vader is India’s first e-motorcycle with an android-powered console

Gujarat-based EV manufacturer Odysse Electric has launched the Vader electric naked bike at an introductory price of Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom Ahmedabad, including Fame II), or more importantly Rs 1,29,999 (ex-showroom pan-India, Including Fame II). Bookings for the Vader are already open for a token amount of Rs 999, with deliveries set to start in July 2023. The Vader is the second electric motorcycle from Odysse, after the Evoqis which we’ve recently ridden, and you can know more about it in our review.

The Odysse Vader is powered by a hub motor with a 3kW nominal and 4.5kW peak output, with a claimed top speed of 85kmph. On offer are three riding modes, with a reverse mode as well. The motor works in conjunction with a 3.7kWh battery comprising lithium-ion cells. Odysse claims a range of 125km and says the battery can be charged completely in a claimed four hours.

Speaking of the underpinnings, the Vader features a conventional fork and twin rear shocks. The alloy wheels front and rear are wrapped in MRF tyres, with a 240mm disc up front and a 220mm unit at the rear, and CBS as standard. At 128kg, it’s conventionally light, considering electric scooters like Bajaj Chetak, which tip the scales at 133kg.

Moving to the features on offer, the Vader features an LED headlight and taillight, but halogen indicators. Its smartphone-compatible 7-inch LCD console, along with the usual information such as speed, riding modes and range readings, also shows readouts for the battery temperature, music selection, call and message alerts, and google maps-based navigation. Moreover, the Odysse EV app also offers a bike locator, Geo fencing, anti-theft with remote immobilisation, track and trace, and a low-battery warning. In terms of convenience, Odysse claims an adequate 18-litre storage capacity, in the faux fuel tank area.

Odysse is offering a 3-year warranty on the battery as well as the motor. Prospective customers can book the Vader online or at the brand’s 68 dealerships. And finally, the Odysse Vader, considering its motor output, locks horns with electric bikes like the Revolt RV400.
