Breaking: Ather Launched New 450S: New Model Priced To Compete With Ola S1
Ather’s new e-scooter will be the entry point to the brand’s sporty culture
Ather has announced the arrival of a new model called the 450S, an e-scooter it says is based on the 450X. But do not confuse this ‘S’ for sport. Because, neither is this electric scooter packing any more performance than the 450X, but in fact, it gets a smaller battery now!
Currently, there’s not a whole lot of information on this new 450S except for the fact that it gets a slightly smaller 3kWh battery pack compared to the 450X’s 3.7kWh battery pack. Of course this has had an impact on range of the 450S and its claimed Indian Driving Cycle (IDC) range is a 115km from a single charge. In comparison the 450X claims an IDC range of 146km.
On our range test, the 450X delivered close to 142km of range from a single charge, hence, we’d like to believe that this new 450S will deliver a healthy range too. Prices for the new 450S start at Rs 1,29,999, whereas, a 450X without the ProPack (no features) is Rs 1,44,921 (both ex-showroom Bangalore). With the ProPack the 450X costs Rs 1,65,435 (ex-showroom Bangalore).
If the 450S is meant to be the most accessible Ather e-scooter on sale, it’s unlikely that it will get many features from the ProPack. At its current price point, the 450S competes with the Ola S1, TVS iQube S and Vida V1 Pro - two mid-spec scooters and one flagship.
