If you are planning to upgrade to your first big bike this Diwali, here’s a few bikes to consider

Top 5 Bikes To Buy This Diwali For Rs 3-5 Lakh

The time has come for you to finally spend some money and get your first big bike this Diwali. You’ve made a budget of Rs 3-5 lakh but now you’re also confused because this segment has a lot of lovely bikes. So to help you make that very decision, here’s a list of 5 bikes that we think are the best in this segment and here’s what each one of them has:

    Ultraviolette X47 Crossover Recon

With it being priced at Rs 3.49 lakh, the Ultraviolette X47 Crossover Recon is arguably the most practical electric bike you can get in India. An IDC-certified range of 323km should last you about a week at the least, and a 145kmph top speed means this bike is seriously quick. And unlike the F77, the X47 is an upright bike, meaning riding it in the city is that much easier since you won’t be bent over, trying to adjust to the F77’s sporty riding posture.

    Ultraviolette X-47 Crossover

And then there’s the fact that the X47 Recon is filled to the brim with features and technology that’s never been seen on a bike in this class. That includes a radar system and you can even get dash cams. And yes, Rs 3.49 lakh is still a lot of money for a bike which eventually has the performance of a 300cc bike. But then the X47 looks and feels unlike any other bike in the class, given that it’s a feature-loaded electric bike. There’s also the fact that you’ll be saving a lot of petrol money over the years. So if a futuristic bike is what you’re looking for, the X47 Recon is quite a nice bike.

    KTM 390 Enduro R

The off-road culture in India has been picking up pace of late and KTM now wants a piece of that pie. So the brand has finally brought an enduro bike to our shores. We finally got the KTM 390 Enduro R this year and it turned out to be an impressive bike to ride when we got a chance to bash it over some trails. Even the India-spec bike with the less suspension travel is a very capable bike and its much lower seat height means that it’ll be a very approachable bike even for relatively inexperienced riders. But if you’re an experienced rider, the international-spec bike might be your thing. While it has a very tall seat, the bike is very very capable and will basically ride up every trail that you want to.

    KTM 390 Enduro R

But the best part about the Enduro R is that it’s also surprisingly friendly. Yes, it’s a big, powerful engine but the power delivery is smooth and fairly predictable and while it’s not a featherweight, it still feels like a fairly light bike. The overall minimalistic design makes it feel like a genuine enduro bike which you can take just about anywhere, explore the unexplored territory and even drop, without worrying about it too much. In sum, the Enduro R ticks all the boxes an enduro bike should. If you want one, it’s the only one of its kind in India.

    KTM 390 Adventure

If you’ve seen the KTM 390 Adventure make its way to a whole bunch of our lists, it’s for a good reason: it’s an excellent adventure tourer. And that’s because the KTM 390 Adventure ticks all the boxes you’d expect from a long-distance touring bike without compromising on the everyday commuting skills. It’s reasonably spacious, has a powerful engine, is comfortable, is loaded with features and on the whole, feels like a big, premium bike.

    KTM 390 Adventure

But the best part is that the 390 Adventure, just like the 390 Enduro R, is quite an easy bike to ride. The off road mode has a lot of grunt at low speeds, meaning you don’t have to rev the bike to extract the best out of it. And that means that despite being a powerful engine, the 390 Adventure is surprisingly easy to ride and even take off road. In fact, between it and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, we might just recommend the KTM to more riders since it’s a lot lighter than the Himalayan 450 and that means you’ll spend a lot less time worrying about its weight before taking it to unexplored territories.

    Aprilia Tuono 457

While the above 3 bikes feel big and premium, the Aprilia Tuono 457 brings a bit of exotic appeal, a bit of Italian flair that other bikes in this class don’t have. The Tuono 457’s headlight design might’ve polarised people but get up and close and you’ll see that it’s an extremely premium and expensive looking bike. The fit and finish levels are the best in the segment and the lines flow well. While the Tuono 457 doesn’t look like the bigger Tuonos, it’s still a very well made bike.

    Aprilia Tuono 457

And then there’s the engine. Leave the clutch and the Tuono 457 accelerates with a surprising amount of ease, making you think that it’s an easy going engine. But then start revving the engine out and you’ll see that it’s properly exciting and in our tests, it was quicker than the KTM 390 Duke, which in itself is also an extremely exciting bike. So while the 390 Duke is the naked bike to get in the Rs 2-3 lakh price bracket, the Tuono 457 is the naked bike to get in the Rs 3-5 lakh bracket for sure.

    Aprilia RS 457

But then if you want to take the exoticness to another level, it doesn’t get better than the Aprilia RS 457 in this price bracket. For starters, just look at it! It’s easily the best looking made-in-India bike and if you’ve always dreamt of sportbikes all your life, the RS 457 has everything you might want from a bike. So if its looks have put you in a trance, the best part is that the RS 457 goes just as well as it looks. The RS 457 is fast, exciting and will cut through the city traffic with delightful ease. In fact, if you’ve dreams of taking your big bike to a race track and looking like a MotoGP rider in the pictures, the RS 457 will very happily do that.

    Aprilia RS 457

Yes, the riding posture is committed and the suspension isn’t the most comfortable but you’d forget all of that when you ride the RS 457, because it’s such a hoot.

amazing beast just go for it
Just go for it. In this price rs 457 is best in segment. Love you Aprilia, riding experience shocked me. Power of this bike is insane. I don't think in this price any bike will close to Aprilia. Breaks are awesome, works smoothly, looks of this bike is like 1000cc bike, top speed is 200+ and this is cool.

Personal review of owning x47 for 9 months
Compare the ICE bike this feel more similar feel and more over petrol issue, I had scooty it got damaged for E20 petrol so I don't want that engine issue for new bike. More over I saved 35000 in petrol for 8 months. That make feel happy, I never knew the daily commute cost charge it up and ride. So far in my journey with bike I travel almost 8000KM where dynamic are good no hardware level issue saved allmost 35k of petrol and I feel sometimes it consume more time for charging software issue are there, in this bike that issue I faced and accessories it placed in very expensive. You need for short travel and few long trip around 250km it can do it But it is hard for long ride for 350 plus in single day It charging u need boost charge it 40k, It make more expensive my conclusion you have short daily ride and company provide free charging in their showroom.

      tuono 457 ( personal opinion)
Stance and appearance. it was expensive but the test ride felt awesome, the engine was punchy but i had concerns about mileage, but the thrill it gives way above all the expenses that occur. I personally use it as daily but my dad uses it sometimes, says he gets little scared due to acceleration. It's a punchy engine making it fun for rides with friends and also a tractable engine for daily runs. It has 2 downsides which, i think must be fixed, the suspension does not feel good (prolly due to Bangalore roads). and brake works good but does not feel good. yes, i would recommend this bike, especially for enthusiasts. its a good daily (except low mileage) and a fun highway bike. I just love to ride it. It fills you with spirit and if there is a feeling i would like others to have its this.

      Ready to Adventure.
I also have a Duke, Adv has covered all the issues which I have faced on Duke when I use to go on long rides, Ride is also plush coupled with a great engine which proves itself on all grounds. Also it has a decent fuel efficiency considering its engine performance. Bike's comfortable its mileage is also good I get a decent range, but the engine won't feel as raw as BS4 duke, great electronics and safety. Just having engine oil consumption on higher side. Also the Trampler tyres give more life than Turanzas which came initially. Long hauling person should definitely buy this bike, long rides are so hassle free. And comfortable, also if you have to carry any luggage they have provided good anchoring points. Tieing a back pack or a duffle bag is easy.

surprisingly capable on the road, especially on twisty tarmac often surprising sportbike riders. It can maintain highway speeds well but its dirt-bike roots mean long highway rides can be less comfortable due to wind firm seats and some engine vibrations More approachable, manageable, and easier to handle for less-experienced off-road riders. Excellent chassis/suspension.but can feel heavy and bottom out on the shock in very rough.aggressive terrain compared to dirt bike I want to say anything best mileage best performance what you need apart from that best bike i ever ride the aggressive bike especially on twisty tarmac often surprising sportbike ridervibrations engien
