KTM 390 Duke, 390 Adventure, RC390, 890 Duke And Others - Prices May Be Hiked With New GST 2.0
New GST 2.0 norms command a flat 40% GST for bikes above 350cc, and here’s the price list if KTM decides to pass down the increased GST to customers
Bajaj Auto confirmed that it will pass on the reduced GST benefits for all its models, including ones from KTM. This means, all sub-350cc KTMs will be more affordable once it comes into effect from September 22.
But what about the 390 range and other bigger bikes? These bikes were earlier taxed at 31% (28% GST + 3% compensation cess) and will be taxed at 40% under GST 2.0 effective September 22.
For now, the brand hasn’t categorically announced new prices for bikes above 350cc. However, if KTM decides to pass on the full extent of additional taxes to the customer, the new prices will be higher by Rs 20,000 to Rs 1.58 lakh!

If KTM decides to increase the prices, particularly the 390 range, it will be a big letdown for those who have been looking to get a performance bike on a budget. The biggest loser here (in the 390 series) will be the KTM 390 Adventure, which will become a lot more expensive than before. At almost Rs 4 lakh, this pricing of the 390 Adventure may make more people opt for the more affordable KTM 390 Adventure X instead. Interestingly, the KTM 390 Adventure X isn’t all that bad a deal either as it comes with almost all the crucial touring-friendly features, particularly in the recent update.
Big bike enthusiasts will have to shell out a lot more for the 890 Duke R, 1290 Super Adventure S and 1390 Super Duke. That said, while it will still pinch the wallets (and hearts), those spending over Rs 15 lakh on a motorcycle may not see the potential GST hike as a deal-breaking affair.
GST 2.0 For Bikes: Could Have Been Better?
We’d have liked it if the GST bikes above 350cc were further sub-divided into two segments - one between 350-650cc (ideally 28% or less) and another tier above 650cc (40%). This would’ve ensured the budget performance bike enthusiasts aren’t affected by the price hikes as much.
One remedy for 390 range buyers is that if they could book the bike at the earliest and get the delivery before the September 22 deadline, they’ll end up paying the current pre-GST 2.0 pricing and save up a bit in the process.

- Ready to Adventure.I also have a Duke, Adv has covered all the issues which I have faced on Duke when I use to go on long rides, Ride is also plush coupled with a great engine which proves itself on all grounds. Also it has a decent fuel efficiency considering its engine performance. Bike's comfortable its mileage is also good I get a decent range, but the engine won't feel as raw as BS4 duke, great electronics and safety. Just having engine oil consumption on higher side.
