Honda has introduced a new 160cc adventure motorcycle in Brazil- NXR 160 Bros. Previously, the company announced to launch a new motorcycle of the respective capacity in India. So, it this the upcoming Honda bike for the Indian market?

Hero MotoCorp has already proven that India has market for these kind of bikes with its 150cc Impulse, and now Honda seems to challenge it in the same category. The challenge between these two bikes will be almost similar to that between the Honda CBF Stunner and the Hero Igniter. If we talk about the designing, like many other on/off road adventure machines, Honda NXR 160 Bros and Hero Impulse look much similar to each other. However, the Honda's machine looks more edgy with its sharp tail, angular headlight and shrouds.

Propelling the Honda NXR 160 Bros is a new 162.7cc, single cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled, OHC engine, which churns out 14.3bhp of maximum power at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 14.3 Nm at 5,500rpm. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox, the engine has been powered by PGM-FI (Programmed - Fuel Injection) technology, which ensures a smoother acceleration, fuel economy and fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

Brazil is the world's second largest producer of ethanol fuel, so the Brazilian model also features FlexOne technology, which allows the freedom of fuel choice between Gasoline and Ethanol. However, the Indian version will not get this feature. Another novelty is the inclusion of an expansion chamber in the exhaust primary tube, enabling better resume at low rpm.

The Honda NXR 160 Bros features a fully digital instrument panel, a light weight design with large suspension travel and durable spoke wheels with on/off road tyres. Front disc brake is standard on the bike, while the rear disc comes only with the ESDD variant. The polycarbonate headlamp of the bike with multi-focal reflector provides better focus, brightness and less dissipation of light, which makes night journeys safer. The sporty and compact tail lamp features double layered glass for better endurance and efficient lighting.

The long and well cushioned seat of the Honda NXR 160 Bros has been designed to provide more riding comfort for both everyday or travel use. The refueling cap on the fuel tank has a fully integrated design and features a key-hole flap to protect it from foreign particles.

In the Brazilian market, the bike is available in two different trims- ESD and ESDD (with rear disc), which have been priced at R$ 9,350 (approx Rs. 2.24 lakh) and R$ 9,650 (approx Rs. 2.31 lakh) respectively. However, if the bike will be produced locally, it will be priced very competitively to the Hero Impulse in India, which comes with a price tag of Rs. 72,267 (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
