The 2020 Ducati Scrambler 1100 will be the second BS6-compliant Ducati after the Panigale V2 in India

  • The Ducati Scrambler 1100 BS6 was recently teased on the brand’s social media channels.
  • Ducati is likely to bring both the 1100 Pro and the 1100 Sport Pro variants to India.
  • While the 1100 Pro gets an easy-to-reach handlebar, the 1100 Sport Pro features low-slung handlebars with cafe-racer style rearview mirrors.
  • Both variants are powered by the same 1079cc air-cooled, L-twin motor.

Ducati India has teased the 2020 BS6-compliant Scrambler 100 range ahead of its official launch. Expect the Italian bikemaker to launch the motorcycle in the third week of this month. Ducati is likely to bring both variants: Scrambler 1100 Pro and Scrambler 1100 Sport Pro. While the BS4-compliant Scrambler 1100 was priced from Rs 10.91 lakh, expect the BS6 2020 iteration to start from around Rs 12 lakh for the Pro variant and Rs 13.5 lakh for the Sport Pro variant (all prices, ex-showroom).

Ducati has used a 1079cc air-cooled L-twin motor on both the variants. The Pro variant is tweaked for better torque output, with 90.5Nm at 4750rpm and 84.7PS at 7250rpm. On the other hand, the Sport Pro variant is slightly more power-biased, with 85.65PS at 7500rpm and 88Nm at 4750rpm on tap. Comparatively, all the three variants of the BS4-compliant Scrambler 1100 made 85.65PS at 7500rpm and 88Nm at 4750rpm. As before, the engine continues to be linked to a hydraulically actuated 6-speed transmission with slipper clutch. As far as the electronics are concerned, the two variants get three riding modes (Active, Journey and City), Ducati Traction Control and cornering ABS as standard.

While the Pro variant gets a 45mm Marzocchi fully-adjustable inverted fork and a preload and rebound-adjustable Kayaba monoshock, the Sport Pro model features a fatter 48mm inverted Ohlins front fork (fully adjustable) and an Ohlins rear monoshock, that is adjustable for preload and rebound. Brakes for the two variants comprise a pair of 320mm discs with Brembo M4.32 monobloc calipers up front and a 245mm rotor with a single-piston sliding caliper at the rear, aided by a dual-channel Bosch cornering ABS. The two variants roll on an 18-inch front and a 17-inch rear alloy wheel with block pattern tyres.

While the Pro variant gets an easy-to-reach, wide handlebar, the Sport Pro model comes with a sportier, lowered handlebar with cafe-racer style bar-end mirrors. Both bikes get a fully digital instrument cluster. As a part of the Euro 5/BS6 update, the exhaust layout is now stacked on one side, and new colour schemes have been added. The BS6 Ducati 1100 range will compete with the Triumph Scrambler 1200.
