With a target of 50 dealerships by the end of 2016, the newly launched UM Motorcycles aims to sell over 15,000 bikes in the running financial year.

UM Motorcycles has opened its third dealer in Gurugram, at Sohna Road near Vatika Chowk in Badshahpur. Named Bhagwati Motors, the dealership is spread over an area of 3,200 sq ft and provides after sales services as well. Currently, the Renegade Commando and the Renegade Sport S are available for test rides at the dealership, which are priced at Rs 1.49 lakh and Rs 1.59 lakhs respectively (both ex-showroom Delhi). Both the bikes were launched at the 2016 Auto Expo along with the Renegade Classic, which is not on sale in the Indian market yet.

UM Motorcycles has partnered with Lohia Auto to assemble and sell its products in India and the joint venture company is called UML. Commenting on the occasion, Rajeev Mishra, Director of UML, said, “I am delighted to announce the opening of the third dealership of UM Motorcycles in India. This is an important milestone for us in our extensive dealership network rollout program which is currently underway at UM Motorcycles, India. Gurugram has firmly established itself as the business and commercial centre of Delhi’s National Capital Region (NCR) and offers potent opportunities for premium bike makers like us. The new UM Motorcycle dealership will provide the prospective customers of UM Motorcycles a venue to know our products up close and personal. We also take pride in offering the Renegade Commando and Renegade Sport S today for test drive. Both these iconic cruisers from the UM Stable have won the hearts of bike lovers the world over and are now ready to conquer the biking landscape in India.”

Based on a single platform, the UM Renegade cruisers are powered by a 279cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that has been tuned to develop 24.8PS of maximum power at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 21.8Nm at 7,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox which will come in handy while cruising on the highway. Apart from the cosmetic changes, all the Renegade cruisers come loaded with similar features like fat tyres, front disc brake, beefy 41mm front forks, side LED lights for 360-degree visibility, digital speedometer, USB charging port and under seat storage space.

UML targets to open 50 dealers in the country by the end of 2016 and has already appointed 45 of them. The company aims to sell 15000 bikes by the end of this fiscal year, which is quite decent for a new company that offers products in over Rs 1.5 lakh price range.
