Mechanically they remain unchanged, so what's new?
Yamaha India has launched the 2024 Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition models that include the R15M and the MT-15 Version 2.0 as a part of their ‘The Call of the Blue’ brand campaign. The limited edition models will be available through their Blue Square showrooms only. The livery is inspired by their MotoGP bikes and is carried forward to their road going models, displayed on the tank shrouds, fuel tank, and side panels.
Mechanically, both bikes remain unchanged and continue to get the 155cc single cylinder liquid-cooled engine which makes 18.4PS @10000rpm and 14.2Nm @7500rpm. They get a deltabox frame and are suspended by a telescopic inverted fork and a linked-type monoshock. Braking includes a 282mm disc at the front and a 220mm rear disc.
In terms of features, both the R15M and the MT-15 Version 2.0 get dual-channel ABS, Traction Control System, slip and assist clutch, Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) and Bluetooth connectivity as standard. The R15M is a more track-focused bike with sportier ergonomics and gets clip-on handlebars and rear set footpegs. It also gets additional features such as a Quickshifter, fully digital colour TFT screen, turn-by-turn navigation, volume control, upgraded switchgear and an LED light for the licence plate. The street-naked MT-15 Version 2.0 gets upright handlebars and a more comfy riding posture compared to the R15M and features an LCD digital instrument cluster.
The 2024 Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition R15M and MT-15 Version 2.0 are priced at Rs 1,98,800 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Rs 1,73,400 (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.
The R15M goes up against the likes of the KTM RC200 and Hero Karizma XMR, and the MT-15 Version 2.0 rivals the Honda Hornet 2.0, Bajaj Pulsar NS200, and the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
