Does the first hybrid bike in the 150cc segment have enough to offer? We find out!

The Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid is the first bike in the 150cc segment to feature a hybrid system along with a lot more features. But is this enough to stand out and even take on its main rival, the Bajaj Pulsar N150? We try to answer that through this detailed image comparison.

In terms of outright power and performance, the Bajaj Pulsar N150 wins. But the mild hybrid tech is a trick up Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid’s sleeve. This system takes the load off the engine, and offers a slight boost in torque.

This also helps make the bike a lot more fuel efficient. So overall, there's a lot more than what meets the eye when it comes to performance.

The FZ-Fi Hybrid has bigger brakes and wider tyres. The larger brake rotors at the front will help in improving braking performance, and the wider tyres at both ends, should in theory, give better grip.

The Pulsar N150 in this case offers a smaller disc at the front and a drum unit at the rear, which is a big downgrade compared to the Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid.

Both the bikes are tied when it comes to ground clearance and seat height. But when it comes to the wheelbase and kerb weight, the Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid has a slight advantage here. It could offer sharper handling characteristics and would be a lot easier to move around in the parking lot. The Pulsar N150 has a slightly larger fuel tank, which could, in theory, give it better range.
Features
When it comes to features, the Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid comes off as a more premium bike thanks to the 5-inch TFT console. The console also offers smartphone connectivity and related features such as turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS alerts.

The Pulsar’s console only offers call & SMS alerts. In this sense, the Yamaha FZ-S Fi feels a lot more premium. The bike also offers a traction control system which adds an additional layer of safety which beginner riders will appreciate.

Overall, the Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid feels a lot more premium as compared to the Pulsar N150. The bike has a lot to offer in terms of underpinnings and features, but comes at a premium of Rs 23,593 as compared to the Pulsar.

Now, if you are someone who is looking to get a premium 150cc commuter that is packed with features then the FZ-S Fi is the choice for you. But if you want something that is more affordable and offers better performance, then the Bajaj Pulsar N150 makes more sense.
User Reviews
More than 10 K customers have bought this bike.At this range, as compared to other bikes this bike is too good. The breaking at 100/120 is also too good. It does not wobble at that speed too while breaking. Bike also looks too good. That's why I choose this bike. The feel while riding this bike was better. As this was my first bike, it's very easy for the beginners to learn on it (if able to handle the weight of bike). Does not decrease the mileage after servicing. If ur cost range is 150 k - 170 k this is very good bike. The clutch is also not too hard too handle. Engine (149cc) is also smooth with Smart Motor Generator (SMG) assist. Handling is also good. I will always recommend this bike. If your expense is more than this bike I will recommend other bikes.Read More
