Yamaha had recently announced that it will be offering the full price benefits of GST 2.0 to customers. This means, from September 22, 2025, all the bikes (sub-350cc) in their lineup will become a lot more affordable. Under the new GST norms, bikes under 350cc will have an 18% GST - down from the current 28% GST.
The Yamaha FZ and FZ-X range, in particular, will receive price cuts of up to Rs 12,000 with the new tax cuts. Currently, the Yamaha FZ lineup includes 8 models, and here’s a detailed breakdown of the current prices, along with the expected prices under GST 2.0 based on our internal calculations.

The drop in prices is welcome news, as the Yamaha FZ lineup is a bit expensive compared to rivals. Even though it looks sporty and muscular, the bike is geared more towards mileage rather than outright performance. Recently, with the launch of the mild-hybrid variant (called Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid), the brand seems to have taken mileage even more seriously.
In fact, we had tested the bike and it returned a mileage of 61.22kmpl in mixed riding conditions (city and highway). For perspective, the figures are close to what we achieved on the Hero Xtreme 125R in the same conditions.
Although the mileage is impressive, some riders were put off by the pricing. Now, with the GST cuts, we expect the bike to gain even more popularity among buyers who are looking for a fuel-efficient 150cc bike with a sporty design.

The FZ-X lineup is the brand’s neo-retro commuter series, and there are two models on offer. With the GST cuts, we can expect a reduction of almost Rs 12,000!

The bikes have the same strengths as the Yamaha FZ lineup: a premium commuter feel, along with excellent mileage. But once again, the high pricing has been the biggest issue, but now with the GST cuts, customers who were looking for a retro-modern bike can get a better deal on the FZ-X. Mileage-conscious riders can also go for the Yamaha FZ-X Hybrid, now that it will become a lot more affordable.
