Yamaha FZ Blue Flex Same Price Other Options: Cruiser, Retro Bike, Scooter And More!

The Yamaha FZ Blue Flex has an ex-showroom price of Rs 1,25,840. While that’s not an unreasonably high price, there still might be some who aren’t happy with the FZ’s price tag. So for those who aren’t, here are 5 bikes and scooters for you to consider instead of the FZ Blue Flex, two-wheelers that have their own charm and cost in the same price range as the Yamaha bike:

Royal Enfield Hunter 350 - Rs 1.3 lakh onwards 

The Yamaha FZ is still a 150cc bike and if for a bit more money, you get a 350cc bike, the latter definitely sounds like a better deal. Now, of course, a bigger bike doesn’t always mean it’s a better bike, but a lot of customers think about it that way and it’s not entirely wrong. Getting a bike with more than twice the capacity for a bit more money does sound inviting. The Hunter 350 obviously has a lot more performance as well and the engine will feel quite nice to use, given that it has loads of torque especially at low speeds. 

And then there’s the Royal Enfield Hunter 350’s old school charm. While it’s quite a compact bike, it looks very pretty and is easy on the eye with its clean design and smooth, flowing lines. There’s a reason why the Hunter 350 has sold like hot cakes ever since it was first launched in India about 4 years ago. So if you want to steer away from the FZ, wanting more performance and don’t mind a dash of retro, you could seriously think about the Hunter 350.

Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise - Rs 1.33 lakh onwards 

Talking about the performance, even the Avenger 220 Cruise has more performance than the Yamaha FZ. But the real charm with the Avenger is the fact that it’s India’s original affordable cruiser. When Harley-Davidson cruisers were the most enticing bikes in the market, the Avenger won a lot of people over with its authentic cruiser design and riding style. 

And given that it is built on a much lower scale, it’s actually surprisingly practical and easy to use in the city as well, a lot more than the other, bigger cruisers in the market. So if you want a smaller cruiser, one that gives you all the feelings of a cruiser but at a small scale, you can still think about the Avenger 220 Cruise. 

TVS iQube 3.1 kWh - 1.36 lakh 

The TVS iQube has long been one of our favorite electric scooters and it’s for a good reason. It’s comfortable, reliable, has reasonably good range figures, is feature-loaded and looks very harmless, something our traditional Indian households love. And to add to that, the fact that you never have to pay for a single litre of fuel is also extremely enticing. Once you have a long term charging spot sorted out, the TVS iQube is delightfully fun to ride, while being extremely practical. 

So if you want to steer away from the FZ towards something even more practical, something everyone in the family can get on and ride, you should seriously think about the iQube 3.1kWh. It does everything you’d expect from a family scooter, and then a bit more. There’s a reason why it has been dominating the electric scooter segment. 

TVS Apache RTR 200 4V - Rs 1.37 lakh onwards 

The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is one of our favourite 200cc bikes and it has been so for quite a while now. It looks good, has a lot of features, has excellent performance and is sporty enough to keep you entertained for quite a while, while being forgiving enough to make a newbie feel comfortable on it. The Yamaha FZ does not lean towards the performance side of things and that can be a bit boring if you’re someone who likes to ride their bikes in a more spirited manner. 

So if you want to go towards performance, the RTR 200 4V is one of the best bikes you can buy in this price range. TVS has also updated the bike constantly, over the years, and with the different variants, there’s a lot of variety for you to choose from. 

Bajaj Pulsar N160 SS - 1.43 lakh 

Bajaj recently launched the Pulsar N160 SS in India and we really liked the bike. The extra bit of performance makes it feel just a bit more peppy than the standard Pulsar N160 and that extra bit of spice feels lovely. Adding to that, the N160 SS also looks better and is more modern and feature-loaded than the standard N160. The Yamaha FZ Blue Flex, meanwhile, is none of those things. So if you want more fun from your bike, you should definitely think about the N160 SS. 

That said, if you want out and out performance, you should seriously consider another Bajaj Pulsar, the Pulsar NS200. While the NS200 hasn’t been properly updated in quite a while, it’s still one of the best bikes in its segment when it comes to outright performance and when you really wind the bike up, it’s actually quite exciting.
