Recent teasers hint at this possibility

TVS July 6 Launch

TVS is all set to launch something new on July 6. While we initially believed it could be the production version of the TVS Zeppelin cruiser concept, things got a little more interesting this week after the images of the TVS Ronin, a neo-retro scrambler, leaked online. With this development taken into account, we now have reason to assume TVS will launch two motorcycles, the Ronin scrambler, and its cruiser derivation, possibly called the TVS Retron, on the same day.

TVS’ recent teaser videos also reinforce this possibility. The names ‘Zeppelin’ and ‘Retron’ are mentioned along with a few other words in one of the teasers. In another, the design sketches show a telescopic fork along with a circular headlight, indicating that TVS will use the Ronin’s platform to spawn two motorcycles, just like how Yezdi did with the Yezdi Roadster and the Yezdi Scrambler

To this end, expect TVS to tweak the Ronin’s chassis with a more relaxed rake angle, forward-set footpegs with relaxed, easy-to-reach handlebars, and perhaps also throw in a split seat setup like the Royal Enfield Meteor 350

Both bikes could be powered by a TVS Apache RTR 200 4V-derived, bored-out 220cc air-cooled engine with oil-cooler. While the TVS Ronin could be priced at around Rs 1.5 lakh, the TVS Retron cruiser could be pegged at about Rs 1.6 lakh (both ex-showroom). The former will go up against the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 whereas the latter will rival the Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 and the Keeway K-Light 250V.
