The kit has been designed by Renovatio Motorworks, a fairly young custom shop in the country

Since its launch in 2018, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 platform has become one of the most preferred platforms for custom builders worldwide. Since then we’ve seen dozens of custom builds crop up based on the 650cc parallel-twin engine, but none of them come quite close to the bobber coined the ‘Old Lady,’ designed by India-based Renovatio Motorworks.

The name may sound odd at first, but it fits. The bike is modern yet retro in its appeal thanks to the use of vibrant colours and vintage design elements. Everything apart from the frame, chassis, brakes and swingarm has been scrapped in the pursuit of perfection. The first thing you’d notice is the vintage-style girder fork with a bronze coloured shock up front which replaces the traditional telescopic unit. The classic circular halogen headlight is positioned lower for a sportier stance.

The bike uses chopped fenders at both ends and fat 160-section Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2 tyres wrapped around golden spoked rims in typical bobber fashion. The white walls on the tyres help accentuate the bike’s retro design. The flat handlebar should offer better leverage and hopefully counter the wider heavier tyre up front. Oh, and it comes with bar-end mirrors and indicators.

Next up is the fuel tank design which is much broader than the standard unit. It not only goes well with the overall proportions of the bike but will also store more fuel. Then there’s the crank cover which has been finished in black to keep in line with the bike’s theme. A pair of chopped exhaust pipes help reduce weight and add a throatier exhaust note. While there's no official word, the engine seems to be untouched and is expected to produce the same 47.45PS and 52Nm.

On top of the newly designed side panels sits a single floating seat complete with tan leather. The side panels also double up as the new glove compartments. A neat LED strip placed under the seat makes up for the tail light and keeps the tail section clean. The rear shock absorbers from the Interceptor have been retained to keep costs in check and the springs repainted to match the front unit.

Finishing touches include a new red and black livery. The bike is currently in its conceptual stage. However, the entire kit can be built for anyone who wishes to customise their Continental GT 650.
