Suzuki recently launched the Gixxer 250 in India. This naked version of the Gixxer SF 250 carries forward the same design of the new 2019 Gixxer 150.  The new Suzuki bike is powered by a 249cc oil-cooled single-cylinder motor that is good for 26.5PS and 22.6Nm. It’s priced at Rs 1,59,800 (ex-showroom, Delhi), and at the same price point there are quite a few other interesting options you can look at.

Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 (Rs 1.71 lakh):
Let's start with its faired variant, the Gixxer SF 250. For Rs 10,800 more, you get a fully faired bike that has a sporty riding position courtesy its clip-on handlebars. Like the naked Gixxer 250, the SF gets LED headlamp, LED tail lamp and a new full-digital instrument console. It also has the same underpinnings and 249cc oil-cooled powertrain making the same 26.5PS and 22.6Nm. If you are looking for a sportier 250cc Gixxer, this is it.

Bajaj Dominar 400 (Rs 1.8 lakh):
For Rs 20,000 more you get a much more powerful naked motorcycle in the form of the Bajaj Dominar 400. The 2019 Dominar’s reworked 373cc liquid-cooled motor delivers a healthy 40PS and 35Nm of torque.  It does not lack in features either and gets a powerful LED headlamp, USD fork, radial calipers and dual-channel ABS. The Dominar 400’s powerful motor and upright seating position makes it a good highway tourer as well.

KTM 200 Duke  (Rs 1.60 lakh):
While the 200 Duke might be low on engine capacity, it impresses with its performance. Its 25PS and 19.2Nm might seem less but the 200 Duke weighs 22kg lighter than the Gixxer 250 so expect the KTM to be better on performance. While the 200 Duke might not get fancy LED headlamps, it impresses with its premium underpinnings. It does miss out on dual-channel ABS and instead gets a single-channel ABS setup so that's a downer.

Jawa (Rs 1.73 lakh):
If retro bikes are your thing, you could take a look at the Jawa. While it gets old-school design and simple features like an analogue instrument console and bulb-type lighting, the Jawa is a modern motorcycle underneath. Its old school looking motor is, in fact, a modern liquid-cooled motor with the radiator cleverly hidden between the frame. The 293cc motor makes 27PS and 28Nm of torque so expect a healthy dose of performance. The Jawas were recently updated and now feature dual-channel ABS.

Royal Enfield Himalayan (Rs 1.80 lakh):
If you are looking for a true-blue adventure tourer, we would suggest you increase your budget a bit and consider the Himalayan. This entry-level ADV has all the right ingredients to worry ADV’s twice its price. It gets proper long-travel suspension, large 21-inch and 17-inch spoke wheels and lots of places to hook up your luggage. Its long-stroke 411cc air and oil-cooled motor makes 24.8PS and 32Nm of torque and has enough grunt to get you out of sticky situations.
