Suzuki Gixxer 250 Launched In India

The motorcycle costs Rs 10,800 less than the faired version

• The Gixxer 250 quarter-litre naked looks similar to the 2019 Gixxer.
• It gets subtle cosmetic changes to differentiate it from the 155cc bike.
• Engine and underpinnings have been carried over from the Gixxer SF 250.

The Suzuki Gixxer 250 has been launched in India at Rs 1,59,800 (ex-showroom Delhi). This makes the quarter-litre naked Rs 10,855 more affordable than the Gixxer SF 250. Like the Gixxer SF and Gixxer SF 250 share the same design language, the new quarter-litre naked motorcycle borrows styling cues from the 2019 Gixxer.

However, to differentiate it from its smaller brother, the Gixxer 250 gets bronze highlights on the headlight cowl, side body panels and engine casing. Suzuki also offers an engine cowl as the mechanicals are shared with the Gixxer SF 250.

In terms of rivals, it sits bang in between the Yamaha FZ25 and the KTM 250 Duke. The former costs Rs 25,620 lesser than the Gixxer 250 thanks to the relatively less complex air-cooled engine with oil cooling. The KTM 250 Duke costs close to Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). That said, it comes with a much sophisticated liquid-cooled engine which makes 3.41PS and 1.4Nm more than the Gixxer 250.

The Gixxer 250 is the Japanese brand’s second naked in the quarter-litre segment in India after the Inazuma (launched back in 2014). However, the Inazuma failed to take off due to its high price. Overall, the Gixxer 250 should be a more affordable alternative to the Gixxer SF 250 for riders looking for a quarter-litre bike with decent performance to boot. New Delhi, August 09, 2019: Enticing riders with a perfect amalgamation of performance, style and thrill, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. To deliver serious riding fun added with adrenaline rush Suzuki GIXXER 250 has a powerful 249cc, Suzuki Oil Cooling System (SOCS) four-stroke, single-cylinder fuel injection SOHC engine offering refined performance, along with easy to handle chassis developed exclusively for Indian market. SOCS technology adopted by the motorcycle was originally designed for GSX-R has a proven power legacy.

The newly developed engine produces 26.5ps@9000 rpm and 22.6Nm@7500 rpm power. Six-speed gearbox delivers a hassle-free ride. Suzuki GIXXER 250 is equipped with Dual channel Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) offering better braking efficiency.

Furthermore, Suzuki GIXXER 250 is an exciting proposition with a new bronze engine cover, an under cowl, exclusive muffler end cap design and wheels with machine finish.
