Royal Enfield Reacts Strongly To GST Hike News
Siddhartha Lal has recently put out a statement appealing the government for a uniform 18% tax structure
Executive Chairman of Royal Enfield's parent company Eicher Motors Limited, Siddhartha Lal, recently made an appeal to the government for a uniform 18% GST on all two-wheelers. This comes in shortly after the government's proposal of increasing GST on two-wheelers above 350cc to a flat 40% up from the existing 28% plus 3% cess.
While the new proposal also intends to reduce GST of two-wheelers under 350cc to 18% from the current 28%, Lal calls for a uniform 18% GST rate. According to Lal, increased GST could impact investment and scale, reduce brand recall in global markets, and give foreign brands an advantage.
Lal also emphasised the positive impacts of reduced GST on India's fast-growing electric two-wheeler manufacturing and its component ecosystem. Here's his full statement:
While bikes above 350cc are just a fraction of the overall Indian two-wheeler sales, Lal has highlighted the far-reaching impacts to the country's economy and also its importance on the global scale when it comes to India's two-wheeler manufacturing prowess. New GST rates are out and here's how they affect the bike and scooter prices.

I always wanted a classic. The GT six still looks amazing. Sounds great when engine makes every ride good. Feel special smooth, the power delivery makes every ride enjoyable and give it a unique experience. The ride has been excellent. The engine is refined, acceleration, smooth, and the exhaust not active riding pushes 40, so it can feel tiring on the long right but incredible fun on highways smooth as it is. I would definitely recommend the GT to anyone full of classic styling and strong performance is perfect for the weekend rights and highway touring though the committed writing portion may not suit everyone for daily committing.Read More
I'm truly into adventurous and among tourer bike. I have like very few options and this one is far better among all bikes and it is very big good power and torque, good cc and it looks good on roads. Ride has been really good smooth, engine is great, suspension and stable highways, a bit heavy in city traffic, tough but on highways its so smooth and riding been fun on ghat roads too, like the rural area type. Yes, definitely its perfect for touring and weekend rides, if you mostly in the city it might feel too heavy, if you are tall there would be no problem for you but if you are short and basic, its not build for you.Read More
I had to many optoins when it comes to mid range cc segment and goes for the budget and this stole my eye with the colours, the glare its has some charm that i wanted to hold and drive and honestly, its been great. Its been hell of a ride and i give it the best bike the enfield ever released the bike, I mean i'm not a guy who has issues with mileage or maintaince, but if you are it might be troublesome except that runs like a butter. Of course, if youre someone who wants to have a classic bike with power torque and i quote an indian brand cause i'm proud as hell while riding this beauty and beast, it gives butterflies not exaggerated.
