New TVS Ronin Scrambler Launch Tomorrow

TVS is gearing up to launch its upcoming 220cc scrambler, called the Ronin, tomorrow. If you’re eagerly waiting to see what the Ronin looks like, recently leaked images has revealed the Ronin to be a neo-retro scrambler.

It features a round headlight that we have already had a good look at, along with a tear-drop shaped fuel tank, single-piece saddle and side-slung exhaust. It also sports mid set footpegs, to give the rider a comfortable upright riding stance. A dual-tone colour scheme along with a blacked-out engine and wheels further enhance the neo-retro charm of the bike.

The engine is speculated to be a 220cc air/oil-cooled bored-out mill derived from the Apache RTR 200 4V, while underpinnings include gold-finished upside down fork and monoshock. It dons disc brakes at both ends and we expect it to get dual-channel ABS. The compact-looking instrument cluster should pack TVS’ SmartXonnect Bluetooth connectivity.

The invitation sent by TVS for tomorrow’s event did mention that there would be unexpected surprises, and based on their latest social media teasers, the company is most likely to also launch a cruiser, based on the Ronin, which may be called the Retron. Here’s why we think so.

The TVS Ronin could be priced around Rs 1.5 lakh, while the Retron could carry a tag of Rs 1.6 lakh (both ex-showroom). While the Ronin’s closest rival is the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250, the Retron will lock horns with the likes of the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise and Keeway K-Light 250V.
