KTM Duke Family Explained: 390 Duke, 200 Duke, 160 Duke And More

With the launch of the KTM 160 Duke in India, there are six bikes under the Duke lineup. While the 160 Duke is the most affordable KTM, this family also includes big bikes, and here’s an explainer of all the bikes sold under the Duke lineup in India: 

KTM 160 Duke

Price - Rs 1,84,998 (ex-showroom Delhi)

The KTM 160 Duke is the smallest motorcycle in KTM’s lineup in India and is also the most affordable. It gets a downsized 164.2cc version of the 200 Duke’s engine and makes 19PS at 9,500rpm and 15.5Nm at 7,500rpm. The bike offers the typical Duke characteristic once revved hard and the top end-centric power delivery feels great. However, the low-end performance is not that good and the gearbox needs to be worked hard for quick overtakes. 

That said, the bike is heavily based on the 200 Duke, so it offers similar handling, good braking performance and also gets an LCD console with an optional smartphone connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation and SMS/call alerts. The 160 Duke is a great motorcycle to consider for young buyers as it offers good performance, handling and comfort for city riding. 

KTM 200 Duke 

Price - Rs 2,07,538 (ex-showroom Delhi)

Ever since it was launched in India, the KTM 200 Duke has been praised for its engaging performance and sharp handling, which even the 2025 version offers. It gets a 199cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 25PS at 10,000rpm and 19.3Nm at 8,000rpm. The bike feels lively to ride and is also fairly refined for a high revving single-cylinder engine. 

It handles well, and even the braking performance is quite good providing a great package for young and even mature riders who think that the 160 Duke is not fast enough. For Rs 22,540 more over the 160 Duke, the 200 offers 6PS and 4Nm more along with a 5-inch TFT console. This makes it a great option to consider for city commutes and fun weekend rides.

KTM 250 Duke 

Price - Rs 2,30,179 (ex-showroom Delhi)

The KTM 250 Duke sits as one of the most versatile motorcycles in the lineup, but it misses out on the typical ‘mad’ Duke characteristic. Don’t get us wrong, it is still quite a likeable motorcycle with linear power delivery and a refined motor. It gets a 249cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor and makes 31PS at 9,250rpm and 25Nm at 7,250rpm. The engine, though relatively relaxed, is still quite fast for its segment, and can also cruise at decent speeds out on the highway. It is comfortable to sit on, and since it is based on the 390 Duke, it also handles quite well. 

It gets features like a dual channel ABS, bidirectional quickshifter, and a few months back KTM also updated the 250 Duke with a 5-inch TFT console from the 390 Duke. The KTM 250 series (250 Duke and 250 Adventure) is also the brand’s most selling product with 1940 units sold in the month of July, while the 200 series (200 Duke and RC200) is trailing behind at 1614 units. It is a good motorcycle to consider for people who are looking for a quarter-litre streetfighter with good, usable performance while at the same time not being too rowdy. 

KTM 390 Duke

Price - Rs 2,97,443 (ex-showroom Delhi)

The KTM 390 Duke is praised all over the world for its brilliant performance and handling along with the long list of features. It gets a 399cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that makes 46PS at 8,500rpm and 39Nm at 6,500rpm. These power figures makes the 390 Duke quite a fast streetfighter, while the balanced chassis and well tuned suspension gives this motorcycle great handling.

The braking performance is also brilliant as it comes with sintered Brembo brake pads. It gets cornering dual channel ABS, switchable cornering traction control, bidirectional quickshifter, launch control, cruise control and ride modes: Street, Rain and Track. The 390 Duke is one of the best motorcycles to consider as an enthusiast, as it offers a perfect balance between brilliant performance, great handling and a long list of features - all these at a very affordable price point (considering the goodies it gets). 

KTM 890 Duke R

Price - Rs 14,50,000 (ex-showroom Delhi)

The KTM 890 Duke R is one of the sharpest and most engaging middleweight naked motorcycles in its class. It comes with a 889cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor that makes 121PS at 9,000rpm and 99Nm at 8,000rpm - pretty healthy figures for a sub-900cc naked bike. 

Fully-adjustable WP Apex suspension at both ends, premium Brembo brakes at the front as well as the rear, top-spec electronics including cornering ABS, lean-sensitive traction control, ride modes including: Rain, Street, Sport, and optional Track mode, plus a bidirectional quickshifter - these make it a properly loaded streetfighter. If you’re upgrading from the 390 Duke, the 890 is a great motorcycle to ensure your grin gets wider every time you shift gears.  

KTM 1390 Super Duke R

Price - Rs 22,95,800 (ex-showroom Delhi)

The KTM 1390 Super Duke R stands as the most expensive and the most powerful bike under KTM’s Duke lineup in India. It is powered by a 1,350cc V-twin, liquid-cooled motor that produces 190PS at 10,000rpm and 145Nm at 8,000rpm. These figures make the 1390 Super Duke R wheelie-friendly in almost every other gear, but of-course it also has a whole list of sophisticated electronic aids to ensure you don’t get too carried away with the exciting performance. 

Of course, as with any 1000+cc streetfighter, this one too gets premium adjustable suspension, high-spec Brembo Stylema calipers with large twin 320mm discs up front, cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, engine braking control, cruise control, launch control, multiple ride modes including Track and Performance, along with a bidirectional quickshifter. If you want the best of the best that the Duke family can offer, the 1390 Super Duke R is the one to go for. That said, at close to Rs 23 lakh (ex-showroom), it is not cheap by any means.
