KTM Bikes BS4 To BS6 Price Hikes

KTM’s made-in-India models now comply with BS6 norms. Here’s how it has affected the prices of these bikes

KTM was one of the first two-wheeler manufacturers to upgrade its motorcycles made and sold  in India to meet BS6 emission norms. In one fell swoop, the prices for the entire range were announced. Not surprisingly, the BS6 bikes cost more than their BS4 counterparts. While most bikes received a price hike of Rs 5,500 to Rs 6,000, the new KTM 200 Duke costs significantly more than before. On the other hand, the 250 Duke BS6, the bike with which the new 200 Duke shares its looks, received the least price increment.

For the additional Rs 10,496, KTM has given the 200 Duke a new set of clothes, a split-trellis frame and dual-channel ABS. The new price tag does make the 200 Duke feel a bit too expensive, especially when you consider that the Suzuki Gixxer 250 BS6 is likely to be priced on par with it. To make matters worse, the upcoming Yamaha FZ25 BS6 is likely to be priced lower than the 200cc KTM.

Aside from the smashing new colours, the only update on the 250 Duke is the addition of the Supermoto ABS mode. This was exclusive to the 390 Duke prior to the BS6 updates. 

The only bike in KTM India’s lineup that is yet to be updated to meet BS6 norms is the 790 Duke, which is offered via the CKD (completely knocked down) route. KTM India is looking at homologating the BS6 version in India as soon as it receives Euro 5 updates in early-2021.
