    -10kg

    • The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 has a much longer wheelbase (51mm) compared to that of the Hero Xtreme 125R. This means that the Pulsar will be much more stable on the straight highways and city roads at high speeds but a bit less easier to steer.

    • The difference in ground clearance between the two bikes isn’t much but the Xtreme 125R is better suited to deal with potholes and speed breakers by a small margin.

    • The fuel tank on the Pulsar NS125 2 litres larger, which means less frequent fuel stops when commuting over long distances.

    • The Hero Xtreme 125R has a 15mm lower seat height,  which will make it easier to get both feet on the ground while stopped, as compared to the Pulsar NS125.

    • The lighter kerb weight of the Hero Xtreme 125R, combined with the shorter wheelbase should make it more nimble and easier to handle in the city. Whereas the heavier kerb weight should add to the better straight line stability of the Bajaj Pulsar NS125.

    • The Hero Xtreme 125R has the more striking design of the two and will surely grab attention on the road.

    • The Xtreme 125’s colour schemes on offer match the styling and you can check them out in detail here.

    • The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 has the much familiar NS styling with the bulging fuel tank and tank extensions. The design might seem a bit dated to some but is still loved by many Pulsar fans.

    • Bajaj Auto has attempted to keep the design look fresh with updated colour schemes that complement the design quite well.

    • In terms of suspension, both are equipped with similar hardware and the telescopic fork and monoshock setup should give both bikes sporty handling dynamics.

    • The biggest talking point is the availability of a variant with a rear disc brake with dual-channel ABS in the Hero Xtreme 125R. These give the rider much needed confidence that they can stop the bike in a shorter distance and be much safer at the same time when ridden in a spirited manner.

    • In terms of tyres and wheels, both get identical setups and a 17-inch wheel setup is adequate for riding a 125cc sporty commuter while having fun on twisty mountain roads.

    • The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 gets a negatively-lid LCD instrument console also showing the same readouts. It gets Bluetooth connectivity for call and SMS alerts and also turn-by-turn navigation. The three ABS modes on offer are: Rain, Road and Off-Road.

    • The Hero Xtreme 125R is the winner in this department as it gets the segment-first cruise control feature.

    • The engines in both bikes produce similar power and torque figures but both the bikes feel different.

    • The Hero Xtreme 125R’s engine is smooth and refined and has great low-end torque, which makes it easy to ride at low speeds in 3rd or 4th gear without constant gear changes. This is quite essential while commuting in the city on a daily basis.

    • The Bajaj Pulsar NS125’s motor offers peppy performance and has a strong mid-range. The motor pulls all the way to the redline and the nature of the engine makes overtaking easier. Also, it is better capable of handling highway speeds for a longer duration of time.

    Verdict

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 has been in the market for some time now. This bike will be appealing to someone who wants a peppy bike that’s been well updated in terms of the latest features and still likes the OG NS design from over a decade ago.

The Hero Xtreme 125R is the newer bike and looks like it. Its aggressive styling paired with the smooth engine performance, extensive features list and agile handling will appeal to someone who wants freshness and striking road presence in their first bike.
