Just a week after we’d confirmed in our exclusive story that a new Bajaj Chetak electric scooter is set to be launched soon, Bajaj Auto has sent a block-your-date invite for the launch of the new EVin India, on January 14, 2026. This e-scooter will not be a new generation of the current Bajaj Chetak. Instead, it is expected to be a more affordable new model that will be positioned lower in the brand’s existing Chetak lineup. With this move, Bajaj aims to strengthen its presence in the mass-market EV segment.
This upcoming Chetak model will be Bajaj’s direct answer to rivals such as TVS Orbiter, and the base variants of the Vida VX2. With the expected price of this new variant ranging between Rs 80,000 and Rs 90,000 (ex-showroom), Bajaj is likely to target buyers who want the trust of an established brand without stretching their budget.
The scooter has also been spotted testing on Indian roads, and the spy shots suggest that the new electric scooter will be slightly smaller than the current Chetak. It is also likely to move away from the brand’s signature full-metal body, instead using lighter materials to help reduce costs and overall weight. Losing weight is crucial in an EV as that will play a big role in improving the range as the battery will have to work less hard in moving the e-scooter. While the details are still under wraps, here’s our full analysis of the upcoming Chetak electric scooter.
User Reviews
I had purchased it when ev was new in market, I am very much satisfied. I had drove it for more than 50000 kms with no expense. I had to change only tyres and regular service only one auxiliary battery of Rs. 800 had been changed. I am quiet impressed me and my son both have purchased but there is very less front space between handle and seat to carry extra luggage vegetables or ration need to improve in this area good service staff in patni and Nagpur. I will recommend everyone to go for this ev only. Positive, Very good for local commute, I had recovered all the money spend for purchase, me and my son had not spend a single penny for petrol, very pleasant ride for city and highway also but with limitation of distance. mid age person college boys with huge space in seat box for helmet and laptop girls working women also it's value for money, I had already 2 chetak with me and both vehicle had been run for 50000 and 23000 kms planning to purchase one more for my wife.Read More
