250cc To 1000cc Yamaha Bikes Could Be Launched in India Soon
The Japanese manufacturer could bring higher-capacity motorcycles, which are sold in the international market
Yamaha India’s Chairman Hajime Aota has confirmed in a recent interview with a media portal, that the brand is planning to expand its current lineup. Adding that the brand is evaluating its plan of bringing new bikes in India ranging from 250cc to 1000cc.
While Mr Aota has not specified which models we could expect from the brand. With the R3 and MT-03 discontinued, the brand was offering bikes up to the 155 cc segment, But recently it launched the Yamaha R2 in India. So as of now the brand doesn't offer any options above the 200cc mark.
Last year the brand showcased the sporty R7 and the adventurous Tenere 700 at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Both of these bikes are highly praised by the Indian enthusiasts. At that time the brand had no concrete plans on the launch, but with the recent comments the bikes might have a chance to finally get launched in the Indian market.
According to the chairman, the brand also has plans to expand its R&D in India, with the country playing an important role in the company's future global plans. Also, the brand’s key focus is on improving the export capacity volumes compared to Indonesia in the near future. Yamaha says that it could be possible in the near future because of the production capabilities of the Indian two-wheeler market.
With Yamaha's heavy foot on local manufacturing, the upcoming bikes might be competitively priced in the Indian market. Though the launch time and model details weren't shared. The brand hinting at its future plans and focus on the Indian market should make the enthusiasts wait and see what Team Blue has got up its sleeves.
