Peugeot motors showcased the Metropolis - a giant three-wheeled scooter at the ongoing motor show in Greater Noida. The vehicle was accompanied by its two mates namely Peugeot Django and Speedfight. The company currently has no plans of bringing these to India and hence the machines ended up as just being a showcase.

The Metropolis is powered by a 399cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder, four-valve engine that comes mated to an automatic transmission. The fuel injected motor churns out 32.72bhp of maximum power. The scooter has been equipped with DTW and a mono shock absorber at the front along with hydraulic double shock absorber at the rear for suspension duties. The DTW stands for Dual Tilting wheels concept in which the front end tilts to one side while taking a corner. The rider can control this phenomenon manually. The braking of the vehicle is done by SBC (Synchro Braking Concept) in which the rider has been given hand lever and foot pedal for slowing down the vehicle.

Other features include fast adjustable windscreen, smart key, automatic locking of storage spaces, electric parking brake and much more. The Metropolis has also been integrated with an on-board computer that monitors tyre pressure, displays average and minimum fuel consumption besides showing the usual information. The three-wheeler has also been assisted with a massive under seat storage that can easily accommodate two full size helmets. Besides, the rider can also charge his cellphone with the help of a 12V plug provided in the scooter.

Lets hope that the scooter makes its way to the Indian market in a couple of years and with the speed the domestic market is growing, Peugeot can definitely think of bringing the machine here. Stay tuned to BikeDekho for latest news and exclusive coverage on the Auto Expo!
