Ola and Uber recently launched their new ‘Bike Taxi’ services in a bid to expand their business. Unfortunately, the Karnataka Transport Department has said that their new venture is illegal. There have also been reports that the government has seized some of the vehicles from both companies and has announced that the service is unlawful. Apparently, these companies don’t have the permit licence to run the ride-sharing bike taxis in Bengaluru.

Furthermore, the Karnataka Transport Department has said that the vehicles used by both the companies are not entitled to any insurance cover and that they are planning to take a strict action against the same. The reason behind this whole issue is that the two-wheelers used by these companies don't have yellow (license) plates or badges that are required for a transport vehicle.

Presently Ola is providing (the) Bike Taxis (service)at a minimum cost of Rs. 2 per km with a minimum charge of Rs. 30 and Rs. 1 per minute of trip time. Similar to Ola, Uber is providing the (bike)taxi (service) at a base price of Rs. 15 followed by Rs. 3 per km and Rs. 1 per minute of trip time.
