Vida V1 Becomes The First E-scooter To Adopt Ather 450X Charging Port
An electrifying ‘tu mera bhai’ style tale of two premium e-scooters

Imagine if you could charge any smart phones, including iPhones, with any charger. Wouldn’t that be something? The same compatibility issue also plagues the world of electric vehicles. Fast charging setups are few, and one open to all brands even fewer. Hence, the bold move of giving the Vida V1 Ather’s fast charging port as one of three mediums to charge the e-scooter is revolutionary.
Let’s not forget, last year Ather announced that its charging infrastructure will become open-source technology for all OEMs. Also, granted that Hero MotoCorp has vested interest in Ather, and is a major investor in the e-scooter startup, but the Vida V1 is an all new proposition. And it is for this reason why this move is so important. The Vida V1 has three charging options - Fast charging, regular home charging and removable batteries.
Fast charging:

The port is positioned behind the front apron, and though Vida has its own charging grid, the socket is the same as the Ather 450. This allows Vida V1 owners to charge at Ather Grid and vice versa. Distributing the load in this manner helps both brands invest in fewer stations, yet maximise coverage. The Vida V1 claims a quick charging time of 65 minutes for a 0 to 80 percent topup.
Home charging:

Positioned under the seat, this port is your conventional park-and-charge method. Using this method means the Vida V1 Plus will take five hours fifteen minutes, and the Vida V1 Pro will take five hours forty five minutes for a 0 to 80 top up.
Removable Batteries:

In the Vida V1 you get two removable battery packs. Each one weighs around 12kg, so not the lightest, but convenient if charging in your parking lot isn’t an option. But most importantly, it makes the Vida 1 future proof for when battery swapping becomes more commonplace.

Having three ways of charging the Vida 1 is genuinely a welcome proposition. The thought behind it is both user centric and future-ready. Moreover, Vida has been preparing the eco-system for EVs across major cities as we speak. It will have 60 charging stations with 100 plus chargers, across Bengaluru, New Delhi and Jaipur, more cities are to be added closer to December, said the folks at Hero MotoCorp.
