The 2025 TVS Raider 125 ABS TFT DD (double disc, meaning front and rear discs) and Hero Xtreme 125R ABS variants are currently the most feature packed and sporty 125cc bikes on sale in India. Price

The recently launched TVS Raider 125 ABS TFT DD variant is priced at Rs 95,600, while the Hero Xtreme 125R ABS version is priced at Rs 94,504. You can get the Raider ABS in a lower variant (called SXC DD) without the TFT console for Rs 93,800 (all prices ex-showroom). On the other hand, the Xtreme 125 ABS is available in both single-piece seat and split seat versions, both costing the same.

Design

The TVS Raider looks compact and has sleek body panels, and continues with its distinct twin-pod headlight. It gets a new dual-tone Red and Metallic Silver colour called Striking Red, complemented by a red front alloy wheel and a black rear. We really like the asymmetrical wheel colour but some may prefer them to be uniform.

The Hero Xtreme 125R, on the other hand, has a more muscular and streetfighter look. The aggressive headlamp, wide tank, and sculpted side panels give it a big-bike feel. The wider 120-section rear tyre also adds visual bulk. It’s available in 4 colours: Stallion Black, Cobalt Blue, Firestorm Red, and Abrax Orange.

Engine

The Raider ABS is powered by a 124.8cc, 3-valve, air-cooled engine producing 11.38PS at 7,500rpm and 11.75Nm at 6,000rpm. It also offers unique features like Boost Mode (using the starter motor for an electric assist while accelerating), and Glide Through Technology (GTT) that lets you crawl in traffic with just clutch modulation, without throttle input.

The Xtreme 125R comes with a 124.7cc, 2-valve, air-cooled engine making slightly more power at 11.56PS at 8,250rpm, but lower torque of 10.5Nm at 6,000rpm. Hero’s i3s idle start-stop system adds fuel-saving convenience for city riding by automatically switching off the engine when stationary. 

The TVS bike offers stronger mid-range punch and real-world usability, while the Xtreme delivers slightly higher top-end performance. Both get 5-speed gearboxes too, and should offer similar real world mileage in the 60-65kmpl range.

Brakes

While both bikes get single-channel ABS, here’s where the Raider 125 ABS takes a clear lead. It's India’s first sporty 125cc commuter bike to get a rear disc brake (200mm), and there’s a 240mm disc up front. The Hero bike comes with a larger 276mm front disc, but a 130mm rear drum brake. While braking performance is solid, the Raider’s rear disc makes it stand out as the safer, more confidence-inspiring option.

Features

Both have Bluetooth connectivity, voice assist, and phone alerts, but the Xtreme misses out on turn-by-turn navigation and music controls. The Raider 125 ABS TFT DD, as the name suggests, gets a TFT console, and has a ‘Follow Me’ headlamp function (the light stays on for a few seconds after you switch off the bike).

The Hero gets LED turn indicators over the TVS’ bulb blinkers. Feature-wise, the Raider seems to be better, but not all is lost on the Xtreme either. In fact, the updated version of the Xtreme 125R is set to get cruise control, a bunch of other neat features, and it was already spotted at a dealer meet.

The 2025 TVS Raider 125 ABS emerges as the most feature-packed and safest 125cc bike in India today, combining practicality with segment-first tech. The Hero Xtreme 125R ABS remains a great choice for riders wanting a muscular look, better handling, and a solid all-rounder. If you want the best mix of safety, comfort, and technology, pick the TVS Raider 125 ABS. If you prefer aggressive styling and a sportier ride, go for the Hero Xtreme 125R.
