The TVS Apache RTX 300 has stirred curiosity in the Indian motorcycle market, not just because of its groundbreaking tech and performance, but also for its competitive pricing. Priced between Rs 1.99 lakh and Rs 2.34 lakh (ex-showroom), it offers such comfort, convenience and practical features that are hard to find in this price bracket. That said, if the RTX300 isn't your cup of tea, then there are many other options available at a similar price - from ADVs and neo-retro to modern sports bikes, electric and even a focused off-roader.

Yezdi Adventure

Price: Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom)

If you feel that the Apache RTX 300 is a bit too intimidating in size, and you want a more compact-looking adventure tourer, then the Yezdi Adventure could be your choice. It is slightly heavier than the RTX, but also a bit leaner and has a 20mm shorter seat height, which makes it more accessible to shorter riders. Powering the Yezdi Adventure is a 334cc, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 29.6PS and 29.8Nm. It has a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. Moreover, features such as switchable traction control and ABS, along with a long-travel suspension setup, make it quite a versatile adventure motorcycle.

KTM 250 Adventure

Price: Rs 2.41 lakh (ex-showroom)

The KTM 250 Adventure has already established its name in the ADV category. Built around a modern steel trellis frame and powered by a 248.8cc, liquid-cooled engine, it offers about 30PS and 24Nm. Paired with a six-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch, this motor is tuned for tractability rather than outright aggression. In terms of size, shape and seat height, it sits somewhere between the Apache RTX 300 and Yezdi Adventure. However, its suspension and electronics package position it as a direct rival to the RTX. It features long-travel WP APEX suspension, ride-by-wire, traction control, cornering ABS, and an off-road ABS mode, making it a comfortable and versatile option for long-distance touring as well as mild off-roading.

Ultraviolette X47 Crossover

Price: Rs 2.49 lakh (ex-showroom)

If you appreciate sustainability, the Ultraviolette X47 Crossover’s base (Original) trim is a good electric option. Though its ex-showroom price is slightly higher than the top-spec RTX 300, the on-road cost will be in line with tax relaxations on EVs. It uses a performance-oriented motor that delivers 27kW and 90Nm (both peak), resulting in an instant acceleration that no petrol motorcycle in this price segment can match. 

The X47 gets multiple riding modes, traction control, dual-channel ABS, regenerative braking, and advanced connectivity features. Moreover, it has radar-based safety tech, including rear collision warning, lane change assist, overtake alert and blindspot detection. The X47 has a claimed range between 128-211km (depending on the riding mode), from its 7.1kWh battery - this limits the motorcycle to city use and short trips only.

Triumph Speed T4

Price: Rs 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom)

Triumph Speed T4 adds a completely different flavour to this options list. Beneath its beautifully crafted retro curves lies a 398cc liquid-cooled engine that churns out 30PS and 36Nm. It gets a 6-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch, along with features like dual-channel ABS and LED lighting. While it misses out on other high-tech features, a more accessible design with retro charm and high-quality finishing make it stand out in its category. If you want a bike that looks retro but is fairly powerful, then the Speed T4 is a great option.

KTM RC 200

Price: Rs 2.16 lakh (ex-showroom)

The KTM RC 200 is a track-focussed bike that can also be ridden everyday. It is built on a trellis frame and is powered by a 199.5cc liquid-cooled single, which delivers 25PS and 19.2Nm. It is quick, and agile, which makes it extremely fun in the twisties. Its equipment list, including the WP Apex suspension and supermoto ABS (rear ABS can be switched off), suggests that the RC 200 is intentionally made for spirited riding. It may not offer you a comfortable experience on long routes, but it can deliver a lot of fun and thrill if you like the committed riding posture.

Suzuki Gixxer SF 250

Price: Rs 1.90 lakh (ex-showroom)

The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 sits slightly below the RTX 300 in outright displacement and output, but it punches above its weight as an everyday sports tourer. It has a 249cc oil-cooled engine that makes 26.5PS and 22.2Nm; it gets a 6-speed gearbox. It has features such as LED lights, dual-channel ABS, and a connected digital console, which are good enough for everyday use.

You might feel that the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 lacks raw power and an extended list of features, but it compensates with ease of use, a refined engine and a lighter, more forgiving chassis. Moreover, it offers proper supersport styling but with the comfort of a street bike, making it a more versatile road bike.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z

Price: Rs 1.94 lakh (ex-showroom)

The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is the most performance-oriented motorcycle in this price segment. It makes an impressive 43PS and 35Nm from its 373cc liquid-cooled engine, which is paired to a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch. It is packed with performance-centric features, such as quickshifter, 3 riding modes, traction control and ABS with multiple switchable modes. It also has a projector LED headlamp, adjustable brake and clutch levers, and a USD front fork, among other features. The Pulsar NS400Z is an obvious choice for those who prioritise raw performance over everthing else, wrapped in a pocket-friendly price. 

Kawasaki KLX230

Price: Rs 1.84 lakh (ex-showroom)

The Kawasaki KLX230 is quite different from the rest of the bikes we’ve discussed in this list. It is agile enough to tackle uneven surfaces and city roads alike, thanks to its long-travel suspension, large wire-spoke wheels and dual-sport tyres. It is light, compact, and features a 233cc air-cooled engine with approximately 19PS and 19Nm. You might not like riding it for daily commuting, and you will definitely hate taking it on long routes. However, the KLX230 is the motorcycle you will love taking on the trails, and can also rely on for occasional commuting.
