  • Motorcycles manufactured between 20 March 2019 and 30 April 2019 were affected.
  • Around 7,000 units have been affected.
  • Customers with the affected bikes are being contacted to rectify the issue.

Royal Enfield has issued a recall for its Bullet range in India. The recall is due to a faulty brake caliper bolt which holds the brake hose and the brake caliper. About 7000 motorcycles manufactured between 20 March 2019 and 30 April 2019 have been affected.

As reported by PTI,  Royal Enfield issued a statement: "This is because service investigations revealed that the torque maintained on brake caliper bolts, as supplied by vendor, on a few of these motorcycles were not as per stringent Royal Enfield quality standards."

The Bullet range comes with a 280mm front disc grabbed by a 2-piston caliper. The base 350cc variant and the Bullet 350 ES get single-channel ABS with a rear drum brake. On the other hand, the Bullet 500 comes with a dual-channel unit acting on disc brakes at both ends.

Royal Enfield is currently contacting customers affected by this issue for voluntary service free of cost. If your bike is manufactured in the aforementioned period and you haven’t been contacted yet, we’d suggest you call up the nearest Royal Enfield service centre and get the bike checked.
