The Peugeot Pulsion 125cc was launched internationally earlier this year

  • Powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder fuel-injected motor.
  • Features a TFT console with i-Connect, which displays calls, messages and other social media notifications.
  • Could be manufactured in India for exports.

Mahindra two-wheelers might be looking at exploiting the growing 125cc scooter space in India. What makes us believe so? Well, the Peugeot Pulsion has been spotted in India for the very first time. The 125cc maxi-scooter was launched in the international market earlier this year with three variants on offer: Allure, Active and RS.

Powering the Pulsion is a 125cc single-cylinder fuel-injected mill that generates 14.8PS and 11.9Nm of torque. That puts it on par with 125cc motorcycles in the Indian two-wheeler market. It features a 12-litre fuel tank placed on the floorboard to lower the centre of gravity. The tyres are from Michelin, although the test mule seems to sport a different tread pattern compared to the one sold abroad.

The Peugeot Pulsion is designed to be an urban tourer. It looks sharp and contemporary, and unlike anything offered in India. The pronounced front end comprises twin projector headlamps running LED DRLs and a checkerboard air intake grille with chrome inserts, to the top of which sits a tall windscreen.

Other notable features include a colour TFT console with i-Connect, which displays calls, messages and other social media notifications -- all of which can be controlled via two selection triggers on the handlebar.

Besides this, the Peugeot Pulsion features a smart key fob that allows for a keyless start. You could even locate the scooter in a busy parking lot by activating the ‘Find-Me’ feature, which triggers the warning lights. According to the brand, the maxi-scooter has enough storage space to accommodate a full-face helmet. ABS brakes with combined braking come as standard.

Mahindra Two-wheelers Europe plans to completely acquire a 100 per cent stake in French brand Peugeot Motorcycles. Its very first endeavour involved manufacturing and exporting the E-Ludix from India. Mahindra could be looking at using the same approach with the Peugeot Pulsion. At the moment, it’s unknown whether or not the scooter will make it to India. But in the event that it does, we could expect the Pulsion to priced on the premium side of the spectrum.
