KTM 160 Duke vs KTM 200 Duke: Which Has Better Features
Both the bikes are almost similar, but there’s one key difference

The KTM 160 Duke is the newest, and the most affordable KTM bike in India. It is positioned right below the KTM 200 Duke and is meant for beginner riders. But does the 160 Duke have enough features to be a more value-for-money deal than the 200 Duke? Here’s what we think.
Before we dive in, here’s a breakdown of the features that both models have to offer:

When looking at the features side-by-side, it is clear that the KTM 160 Duke has managed to offer most of the key features we’d expect from a premium motorcycle - very close to the 390 Duke in fact. To keep the costs low, it has a black-and-white LCD console – the same one that was initially on the 3rd-gen 250 Duke.

While there’s nothing wrong with it as such, a TFT console would have given the 160 a premium appeal. Even its main rival, the Yamaha MT-15, gets one on its top-end.

Coming back to the sibling comparison, the KTM 200 Duke manages to offer the complete package in terms of features. The 5-inch TFT console looks and feels very premium compared to the LCD unit. The display readouts are a lot cleaner and easier to read. The addition of multiple display themes also adds a nice touch to the overall experience.
That said, the ace up 160’s sleeve is its lightweight alloy wheels – the same ones from the 390 Duke. The 200 misses out on these and instead gets the heavier alloy wheels from the previous-gen 390 Duke. This should give the 160 a slight edge in handling, as compared to the 200.
Verdict
Both the KTM 160 Duke and the KTM 200 Duke offer good value-for-money and feel like premium offerings in their segments. That said, the price difference between them is substantial. Here’s a breakdown of the prices:
|
Model |
Price (ex-showroom, Delhi) |
|
KTM 160 Duke |
Rs 1,84,998 |
|
KTM 200 Duke |
Rs 2,07,538 |
The difference in pricing comes to Rs 22,540, and in a sense, it is reasonable if you’re looking for maximum performance and features. The Duke 200 manages to tick all the right boxes in both regards, offering around 6PS and 3.8Nm more. The 200 Duke is powered by a 199.5cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which offers 25PS and 19.3Nm. The Duke 160, on the other hand, is powered by a 164.2cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which offers 19PS and 15.5Nm.

That said, the KTM 160 Duke still manages to stand out as a value-for-money proposition, offering the KTM experience on a budget. It should also be easier on the pocket with a mileage higher than the 200. This should help the younger riders, who have limited pocket money, to fill up their fuel tanks. The performance is enough to keep the bike fun for a few years at least, even as your skills grow – all of them are the makings of a good beginner bike. The 200 Duke has always been a bike that was meant for someone with a decent riding experience and not a complete beginner. In that sense, the positioning of the two bikes is pretty distinct and should help you pick the best one for yourself.
