At the Hero World 2020 event, Hero MotoCorp brought the spiritual successor to the Xtreme Sports, the Xtreme 160R. The naked is Hero’s contender in the highly competitive 160cc sports commuter segment. How does it fare against the likes of the Suzuki Gixxer BS6 and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V BS6?

The Xtreme 160R’s powerplant is the second-most powerful unit in its class. It is highly commendable considering the engine is not as technologically advanced as the one on the Apache, missing out on a 4-valve head. Nevertheless, the torque generated is the same as the other two.

All three bikes run on similar-spec components. The Xtreme has larger discs, which should translate to better braking performance. The rear tyre, a radial unit, is not as chunky as the one found on the Gixxer. The Apache struggles in the braking department, as there is a distinct lack of bite or lever feedback from the front end. The Gixxer’s suspension units are set up for a firm ride, which makes it a great handler, not so good for city commuting.

The Xtreme is the most compact as well as the most accessible bike of the lot. It has the tightest wheelbase among the three. It also has a distinct weight advantage over its rivals as it is 10kg lighter.

Hero is an expert at attractively pricing its products to undercut rivals by a considerable margin. The same is expected to continue with the Xtreme 160R as it could arrive with a price tag of Rs 90,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). At this price point, it would effectively undercut the Apache RTR 160 4V by nearly Rs 14,000.

Over and all Hero is a good choice for me my whole family have a Bikes of hero. They keep the basic things in mind and make a bike which I feel a a good for a rider. I would be very thankful to Hero for the bike they have made special for 160. I did a ride to Nagpur to ladakh and it was like a 160 cc bike cant do that but unfortunately I did . It was like impossible to possible. The whole credit goes to Hero how bike has been designed and the speed mileage . It feels like no problem even the off-roading also feel like I am sitting in a 4-5 Lakhs bike. Heads off to Hero again. Yes absolutely this bike is like a heaven for middle class people the style, the looks and many more totally worth for the value of the bike. I would always recommend this bike for everyone. There is no negative point first of all . And yeah I would love to express more but yeah that's all for now.Read More
