Here’s Why The BMW G 310 RR Does Not Get Adjustable Suspension

The supersport also misses out on more bits and features that are available on the TVS Apache RR 310 BTO

Ever since BMW Motorrad first teased its small supersport, the expectations from the G 310 RR were set high. And why not? It was expected to share most of its components with the TVS Apache RR 310, especially the bits from the BTO package like the adjustable suspension, span-adjustable levers and more. 

Sadly though, the G 310 RR turned out to be just a rebadged version of the Apache RR 310 which might not have wooed everyone, especially the Indian fans. So why hasn’t BMW equipped its entry-level supersport with track-focussed bits like its TVS sibling?

Well, BMW Motorrad India officials have revealed that they did evaluate the possibility of decking the G 310 RR with the same adjustable suspension components from the RR 310 BTO. There were even a few bikes rolled out with the suspension in place, with one of them used in the teaser images that caught our fancy. Sadly, BMW didn’t find it economically viable to use the advanced equipment.

While that does make some sense, it still does not justify why span-adjustable levers from the G 310 R and G 310 GS haven’t made their way onto the supersport. Additionally, the G 310 RR gets Michelin’s Pilot Sport tyres which again puzzles us, as these tyres aren’t best suited to Indian conditions in our experience.

Finally, the BMW G 310 RR’s TFT display misses out on Bluetooth connectivity, something that the Apache supersport’s console does have, and that is a bummer considering the premium the BMW commands over the TVS.
