EXCLUSIVE: 350cc Harley-Davidson Bike Launch Likely; Should Royal Enfield Classic 350 Be Worried?
It will be the cheapest Harley-Davidson bike in India

Harley-Davidson might be working on a brand-new 350cc motorcycle, and this could be the brand’s biggest strategic shift yet. With India’s GST structure heavily favouring bikes under 350cc, our sources within the company have hinted that in order for Harley to do better in the coming year, there's a need for a bike that suits the current gst structure. It makes perfect sense for Harley-Davidson to develop a downsized engine that fits the lower tax bracket. And since the brand is known for its torque-rich cruisers, a long-stroke, air-cooled 350cc single seems like a natural direction.
Reworked 440 Platform, But In A 350 Guise
The easiest way to go about this is to make use of the existing Harley-Davidson X440’s 440cc engine, resize and retune it to meet the 350cc limit. Expect a torquey, relaxed motor paired with roadster-like ergonomics — something easy to ride daily but still unmistakably Harley. This new model is expected to debut sometime next year, and will become the most affordable Harley-Davidson on sale in India.

Taking On The Current & Future Rivals
Harley’s new 350 will go head-to-head with the Royal Enfield Classic 350, a bike that currently rules the segment. Naturally, it will need competitive pricing, likely in the same range as the Classic 350, which is priced from Rs 1,81,118 to Rs 2,15,750 (ex-showroom, Chennai). By entering this segment, Harley has a huge potential to garner massive sales volume currently dominated by Royal Enfield bikes, provided the brand gets its pricing spot-on.
Triumph (Bajaj) is also preparing its own 350cc model, the Bonneville 350, signalling that the battle for this segment is about to heat up. By building a tax-friendly, small-capacity Harley, the brand can target a much larger customer base than ever before and stand a better chance at competing with both Royal Enfield and Triumph.

A Potential Game Changer
If launched as planned next year, this new 350cc Harley could mark a major turning point for the brand in India. With accessible pricing, authentic Harley character, and the advantage of a lower tax slab, this motorcycle could give Harley-Davidson the volume boost it has long been missing in the Indian market. That said, Harley will also have to massively scale up its sales and service network. Harley will have to make use of Hero’s Premia dealerships to substantially expand to tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
