KTM has finally launched the 390 Adventure R in India and interestingly, it undercuts the KTM 390 Adventure. The ‘R’ is for riders who want a more hardcore off-road focused machine straight from the factory.

How Much Does It Cost?

The KTM 390 Adventure R is priced at Rs 3,77,915 – surprisingly making it Rs 18,829 cheaper than the 390 ADV with spoke wheels, which costs Rs 3,96,744 (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The lower pricing is due to it not getting cruise control, optional turn-by-turn navigation, and Mitas tubed tyres on the 'R' (instead of tubeless). Do note that the regular 390 ADV is called ‘390 Adventure S’ in markets abroad.

The 390 Adventure is available in a single colour option as of now: Ceramic White.

What’s Worth Noting

However, for riders who regularly venture off the beaten path, these compromises should feel completely justified.

Our Take – Who Should Consider It?

The 390 Adventure R is clearly meant for serious off-road enthusiasts who want a lightweight yet powerful adventure motorcycle without stepping into the much more expensive twin cylinder middle-weight segment.

It may not be the best choice for riders who mostly stick to highways and city roads, but if you’re riding far away from home, and then exploring trails, broken terrain or even do proper dirt riding, this is easily the most capable small-capacity ADV KTM has offered in India so far. Those who often tour Leh-Ladakh may also find this particular variant very appropriate (provided they have the means to handle punctures).

And the fact that it costs less than the standard spoked-wheel 390 Adventure just makes the deal even sweeter for the right buyer. That said, those who are really looking only for off-road-centric performance and not as much touring can consider the KTM 390 Enduro R, which is not much lighter, but also costs Rs 38,688 less (Rs 3,39,227 ex-showroom).
