Last year Triumph had announced that it would be launching six new bikes in India by June 2019. These will include all-new models and facelifts of current models. Of the six, the Brit bikemaker recently launched the MY2019 Street Twin and Street Scrambler. We list the four new Triumph bikes that are expected to launch this year.

1. Triumph Speed Twin:

The most exciting road-going Bonneville after the Thruxton R, the Speed Twin impresses in the areas of performance and dynamics. This mean looking roadster is based on the Thruxton, but has a more comfortable upright riding position, thanks to a higher one-piece handlebar and more forward-set footpegs. The suspension setup is also better tuned than the base-spec Thruxton. Braking is better as well, thanks to twin axially-mounted Brembo calipers. You also get Pirelli Rosso III tyres that offer better wet weather performance. The 1200cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor comes in High Power (HP) tune that makes 97PS and 112Nm, of which 100Nm is available from 2000rpm to 6250rpm. Expected to launch by March, the Speed Twin should retail for around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

2. Triumph Scrambler 1200:

While the smaller Triumph Street Scrambler is already on sale here, it will be getting the bigger Scrambler 1200 to India as well. While the Brit bikemaker sells two variants (XC and XE) of the Scrambler 1200 overseas, it is expected to get the base XC variant here. With the larger motor, the Scrambler 1200 gets five rider modes: Road, Rain, Sport, Off-Road and a Rider-configurable mode. The suspension setup includes fully adjustable 45mm Showa USD and twin Ohlins piggyback shock absorbers. Better braking comes in the form of 320mm front twin discs grabbed by Brembo M50 monobloc radial calipers and 255mm rear disc with Brembo 2-piston caliper. It is expected to launch in India by mid-2019 and be priced at around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). We might not get the XC, as its premium features would push its pricing dangerously close to the Tiger 800 models.

3. Triumph Tiger 800 XCa:

The Tiger 800 has been one of Triumph India’s bestsellers. It currently sells the Tiger 800 XR, Tiger 800 XRx and Tiger 800 XCx in India and is expected to get more variants here. And one of them is the Tiger 800 XCa. The top off-road-spec Tiger 800 XCa gets three more TFT styles for its colour display, LED headlamps, six riding modes instead of five, heated handlebar grips and seats, LED fog lamps, main stand and an aluminium radiator guard. This one would complete the Tiger 800 XC range in India and is expected to be priced at around Rs 14.7 lakh (ex-showrom), a premium of Rs 70,000 over the XCx.

4. Triumph T120 Special edition:

Triumph had showcased two special edition Bonneville T120 motorcycles at EICMA 2018. The Bonneville T120 Ace is, as the name suggests, a tribute to London’s iconic Ace Cafe and Cafe racers in general. It gets a unique paint job and decals, small fenders and a flat seat. It is limited to just 1400 units worldwide.

The other one is the Bonneville T120 Diamond edition that celebrates 60 years of the ‘Bonneville’ name. It gets a unique white paintjob replete with ‘diamond’ stickers on the side panels. You have lots of chrome on the bike giving it a unique ‘period-era’ look. This bike is limited to just 900 units and comes with a numbered certificate signed by Triumph CEO, Nick Bloor.

While it is unclear which one of these will come to India, we would place our bets on the Bonneville T120 Ace edition as this limited run series will be manufactured in higher numbers than the Diamond.

Stay tuned for more details about these upcoming bikes.
