Honda has finally unveiled the BS6 Activa 125. Here’s all you need to know about it

Honda has finally launched the 2019 Activa 125. It was unveiled earlier in June this year. Above everything else, it is a BS6-compliant scooter that packs a lot of interesting features. Here are the top 10 things that you need to know about the 2019 Activa 125.

Speaking of firsts...
The 2019 Activa 125 is equipped with Honda's Idling Stop System, which is similar to Hero’s i3S (Idle-Stop-Start System) technology. Here’s how this feature works: when the system senses that the scooter is idle for a certain amount of time, it cuts off the power supply and restarts it when the rider presses the brake lever and twists the throttle.

It is also the first BS6-compliant scooter from Honda
The updated Activa 125 is the first scooter in India to be BS6-compliant. The 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine is fuel injected and is likely to pump out 8.6PS of power and 10.5Nm of torque.

Styling remains similar
On the design front, there are hardly any major changes to help you to differentiate between the two scooters. However, the front end has been restyled; it gets a new LED headlamp and new chrome bars on the side body panels.

Gets all the top-shelf features
Being the top-of-the-line Honda scooter, it gets all the bells and whistles from its maker. Some of the features like the USB charger and a 4-in-1 lock with seat opening switch have been carried forward from the carb variant. However, the FI variant does have some pretty neat tricks up its sleeves.

The 2019 Activa 125 gets an updated semi-digital instrument cluster. It may look like the previous one, but now shows extra information such as range, average fuel consumption and real-time fuel efficiency indicator. Additionally, the 2019 Activa 125 becomes the first Honda scooter to come equipped with an external fuel cap for added convenience. 

It gets a six-year warranty!
To make sure it attracts as many customers as possible, Honda is giving a six-year warranty (three years standard and three years optional) on the new Activa 125. However, the bike maker hasn’t revealed how much will it cost for the optional warranty. 

Features the same cycle parts
Other than the inclusion of a BS6-compliant engine, there aren’t any other major mechanical changes. The suspension components on the carb variant and the FI variant is the same: telescopic fork up front and a monoshock at the rear. Both models feature the same brake setup as well (190mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum unit at the rear).

How much will the 2019 Activa 125 cost?
The standard variant of the new Activa 125 costs Rs 67,490 (ex-showroom Delhi). Compared to the same variant of the BS4-compliant Activa 125, the new scooter costs Rs 6,863 more. Honda has also launched the Activa 125 in Alloy and Deluxe variant which are priced at Rs 70,990 and Rs 74,490. These two variants are Rs 8,427 and Rs 9,478 dearer than before. 

When can you buy it?
Honda will begin the delivery process by the end of September 2019. Pan-India availability will be done in phases.

What about its competition?
The new Activa 125 goes toe to toe with the Hero Maestro Edge 125 (Rs 58,500) and the TVS Ntorq 125 (Rs 58,252). The Maestro Edge 125 is the only other scooter in the country right now that is fuel injected.
