Expert Review
Overview
The Royal Enfield 250 is an upcoming entry-level motorcycle from the iconic Indian manufacturer. It is expected to offer retro styling with a modern hybrid powertrain, marking a significant departure from Royal Enfield’s traditional offerings.
Royal Enfield 250 Price
The upcoming Royal Enfield 250 is expected to be priced around Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom). This would make it the most affordable Royal Enfield motorcycle, sitting below the Hunter 350.
Royal Enfield 250 Colour Options
Royal Enfield has not revealed any official colour options yet.
Royal Enfield 250 Variants
The Royal Enfield 250 is expected to launch in a single standard variant initially, focusing on the entry-level premium market.
Royal Enfield 250 Design
The Royal Enfield 250 will have a retro roadster design, similar to the Hunter 350 and Classic 350. Despite the focus on affordability, it is expected to retain the signature Royal Enfield styling like a tear-drop shaped fuel tank, minimalist rear section; round headlight, tail light and indicators.
Royal Enfield 250 Engine
The bike will most-likely be powered by a 250cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine co-developed with CFMoto. It is expected to incorporate mild-hybrid technology to enhance mileage. The engine will meet BS6 Phase 2, OBD-2B emission standards, and future Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) norms. Power and torque figures have not been officially revealed, but the engine is expected to deliver an impressive mileage in the 45-55 kmpl range.
Royal Enfield 250 Chassis, Brakes, Wheels, Suspension
The Royal Enfield 250 could get a double-cradle chassis, telescopic fork and rear twin shocks. It will likely get disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS, and alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. Ground clearance, weight, and seat height figures are yet to be confirmed - but are expected to be beginner-friendly.
Royal Enfield 250 Features
While full details are awaited, the Royal Enfield 250 is expected to feature a basic analog-digital instrument console, possibly with smartphone connectivity options. The focus will be on essential modern features while keeping costs low. The key highlight will be the hybrid technology, aimed at improving mileage.
Royal Enfield 250 Competition
The Royal Enfield 250 will target the entry-level premium segment, competing against 150cc-250cc bikes and with likes of the TVS Ronin, Yamaha FZ-X, Kawasaki W175, Keeway SR 125. With a retro roadster design and hybrid technology, it will establish its own niche - offering a unique alternative to sporty commuter motorcycles in the same price bracket.
