Now you don't need to turn on the headlamp manually in the Yamaha YZF-R15 as the bike gets Auto Headlamp On (AHO) feature

Considering the timeline for implementing new safety rules for two-wheelers, Yamaha has updated its popular YZF-R15 with Auto Headlamp On (AHO) feature. So, there will not be any headlight switch on the new R15 as the function will work automatically. However, the low-high beam switch will still be there, and you still have to manage the direction of the light beam manually. The feature has been equipped in both the variants of the fully-faired 150cc sportbike i.e. the YZF-R15 S (single seat) and the YZF-R15 Version 2.0 (split seat).

In a bid to make roads safer for two-wheelers in India, the government has passed a regulation requiring all two-wheelers to have Automatic Headlamp On (AHO) features from April 2017. Introducing this feature in the Splendor iSmart 110, Hero MotoCorp became the first Indian manufacturer to implement the upcoming regulation in advance, and is further spreading this feature across its entire line-up gradually.

Being India's first entry-level track-focused motorcycle, the Yamaha YZF-R15 is one of the most popular motorcycles among young riders. Inspired by the older version of the bigger Yamaha YZF-R1, the bike gets a very sporty look along with great dynamics. With a Deltabox frame, the bike offers excellent handling and stability at higher speeds, even in tight corners.

Powering the R15 is a 149cc, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine that delivers 17PS of power and a peak torque of 15Nm. The motor comes mated to a six-speed gearbox and is fed by an electronic fuel injection system for better response. The front of the bike is suspended on conventional telescopic forks, while the rear gets an advanced link-type monoshock. The 17" alloys come covered with soft compound MRF tyres (90/80 section front and 130/70 section rear) for perfect grip and both gets a disc brake for better stopping performance.

The Yamaha YZF-R15 V2.0 has been priced at Rs 1.18 lakh, while the YZF-R15 S comes with a price tag of Rs 1.15 lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi). If we talk about the competition, the bike rivals the Honda CBR 150R and the Bajaj Pulsar RS200.
