The recently launched Yamaha XSR 155 is the brand’s first retro-roadster and it goes up against the Royal Enfield Hunter 350. We compare the specifications of the XSR155 with the mid-spec (Dapper/Rio White) variant of the Hunter 350. On paper, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 makes more power but the specs don’t paint the whole picture. The Yamaha XSR155’s engine is a high-revving motor which produces most of its power at the top-end of the rev range. This will make for an exciting and sportier riding experience, and would be really fun in the twisties.
The Hunter 350, on the other hand, has an air-cooled engine that makes its peak torque relatively early in the rev range. . This should translate into a more engaging city riding experience.

The Yamaha XSR155 has a more modern suspension setup, with the inverted fork and linked monoshock.
However, the Hunter 350 does not lag behind and the twin shock absorber setup offers 6-step preload adjustability, making it possible to tune the suspension depending on the rider’s needs. While the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 has larger brake discs, it’s mostly because of its weight. ,

The weight difference between the two bikes comes to 44kg, which is massive . This will be felt when riding and even while moving the bike in the parking lot. The Yamaha XSR155 will feel quite agile and nimble and will be perfect for cutting through city traffic.
The Hunter 350, with its longer wheelbase, will feel more stable on the highway. It also has a larger 13-litre tank which should result in a higher range than the XSR155’s 10-litre tank.

The Yamaha XSR155 gets a LCD console with smartphone connectivity for call, SMS and email alerts. The Hunter 350, meanwhile, has a retro console with the analogue speedometer and digital inset. Riders can also get the optional Royal Enfield tripper navigation module for turn-by-turn navigation.

The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is a more touring-friendly machine with good highway cruising capabilities, a larger tank and a good set of features. The Hunter 350 is for those riders who want a city bike that can double up as their companion for longer trips. The long stroke engine will also be loved by those riders who are looking for an authentic retro experience. Seeing this bike for the first time on road was nothing short of fabulous and i decided to buy it, the next day only, my personal experience has a lot of ups and down. - week 1 gear shifting was buttery smooth bus after 500kms it got stiff and rigid - mirrors do not suit the bike at all - very impressive performance - 10/10 road presence - suspension is slightly rigid in city commute - riding posture is a mix of sporty and aggressive - engine feels very smooth yet powerful at the same time overall the experience has been great, if you are looking for a bike for daily commute with a punch of power and occasional long rides, would 100% recommend buying it eyes closed, more importantly if you want a bike that makes you smile when you look at it, go for it.Read More
