Ultraviolette Tesseract vs Ather Redux - Today vs Tomorrow

The Ultraviolette Tesseract stands out as an e-scooter which shows what the brand is capable of doing today. The Ather Redux concept, on the other hand, showcases what the brand will be able to achieve tomorrow. But is Ather’s tomorrow better than Ultraviotte’s today? Here’s what we think:

Design

The design language that both have used feels similar, with the sharp styling and overall futuristic feel. Now this is where the similarities end; both draw inspiration from very different places.

The Tesseract is inspired by attack helicopters, and a lot of the design bits, like the sharp apron with the aggressively placed LED headlight and DRLs give the e-scooter a menacing look. 

The Redux takes inspiration from moto-scooters and has an almost bike-like look and feel. That said, the Redux is still a concept and the materials used in its construction, such as the lattice mesh seat, are unlikely to make it to the production version.

Battery, Range & Performance

The Ultraviolette Tesseract is offered in 3 variants, but we will be considering the top-of-the-line Tesseract 6 variant as it has the highest range and also the most powerful motor. The Tesseract 6 has a 6kWh battery pack offering a claimed range of 261km. The scooter also has a 14.9kW motor, which offers a claimed top speed of 125kmph. 

So far, Ather has not revealed anything about the Redux concept’s specifications. But we think the scooter could be powered by a motor that can handle triple-digit speeds. The battery pack could also be the largest one Ather has built, which should offer a good range.

Underpinnings 

The Ultraviolette Tesseract features a telescopic fork and a monoshock. It rolls on 14-inch wheels at both ends, with braking duties being taken care of by disc brakes at both ends.

The e-scooter also gets dual-channel ABS for added safety.

The Redux concept also features 14-inch wheels at both ends, with disc brakes. So far, Ather has not revealed much about the underpinnings. But from what we can see, the e-scooter gets an inverted fork and monoshock.

Features 

The different places from which the scooters take design inspiration have influenced the feature set greatly. The Tesseract, for example, is all about situational awareness and offers features such as an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).

This system works together with dashcams at the front and the rear, offering collision warnings via haptic feedback i.e. vibrations on the handlebar. The scooter also offers features such as overtake and lane-change alerts, which really improved the safety quotient. 

The Ather Redux is all about performance. The scooter has an interesting feature, which dynamically adjusts the riding posture based on rider input. This means that the rider can either go for a more relaxed and upright position or for a sporty and committed one. The footpegs and handlebars will adjust accordingly. The change in riding posture also makes a few differences in the console’s theme thanks to Ather’s MorphUI. The Redux will also offer keyless ignition.

Verdict

The Ultraviolette Tesseract was launched for Rs 1,45,000 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). Currently, the brand has only revealed the price for the base variant, and the Tesseract 6 variant, which we've used for this comparison, will only be here after Q1 2026. The Ather Redux is still in concept form and could take a few years before being production-ready. 

Both the scooters look promising, but each appeals to different audiences. If you're someone who is more concerned about safety, then the Tesseract would be something you'd like. But if you're more into performance and sportiness, then the Redux might be more interesting.
