We have compiled a list of the top 5 best-selling petrol-powered scooters in India along with their year-on-year (YoY) growth data

The Society Of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has just released the bikes and scooters’ sales data for the month of August 2024. And as every month, we have compiled a list of the top 5 best-selling scooters (both 110cc and 125cc) of August in India to give you a perspective of the most popular scooters in the country.

We have also included their year-on-year (YoY) and month-on-month (MoM) sales data, to determine the growth or decline in their sales:

5. TVS NTorq 125

Engine: 124.8cc air-cooled single-cylinder

Power Output: 10.2PS at 7,000rpm and 10.9Nm at 5,500rpm 

The TVS NTorq 125 is the sporty 125cc scooter from the Hosur-based two-wheeler brand. The manufacturer sold 33,201 units in August with an MoM growth of 23.7 percent and a YoY growth of 15.3 percent. But, it still slipped a position down compared to last month, when it was the 4th best-selling scooter in July as its sales have been overtaken by the Honda Dio 110.

4. Honda Dio 110

Activa 6G Engine: 109.51cc air-cooled single-cylinder

Power Output: 7.85PS at 8,000rpm and 9.03Nm at 5,250rpm

Honda’s sporty 110cc scooter the Dio 110 has shown a spike in its sales chart. A total of 34,705 Honda Dio 110s were sold in India in August. The scooter successfully recorded an incredible MoM growth of 92.2 percent and a YoY growth of 19.8 percent. It features the same 110cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine as the Activa 6G. 

3. Suzuki Access 125

Engine: 124cc air-cooled single-cylinder

Power Output: 8.7PS at 6,750rpm and 10Nm at 5,500rpm

The Suzuki Access 125 is a 125cc family scooter from the Japanese manufacturer which is known for delivering impressive mileage figures, more than other 125cc scooters. For example, the scooter delivered a fantastic real-world mileage of 52.45kmpl in the city and 57.22kmpl on the highway in our tests. 

In the month of August, Suzuki was able to sell 62,433 Access 125 scooters in India, securing 3rd position on this list. However, the scooter still witnessed a 12.3 percent decline in MoM sales and had a 16.3 percent YoY growth in sales.

2. TVS Jupiter 110 & 125

Jupiter 110 Engine: 113cc air-cooled single-cylinder

Power Output: 8.02PS at 6,500rpm and 9.8Nm at 5,000rpm 

Jupiter 125 Engine: 124.8cc air-cooled single-cylinder

Power Output: 8.1PS at 6,500rpm and 10.5Nm at 4,500rpm

The TVS Jupiter 110 and Jupiter 125 are family-focused scooters from the Hosur-based manufacturer. It is TVS’ contender to rival the Honda Activa 6G and 125 in the country. The Jupiter range combined witnessed a total sales of 89,327 in the Indian market. It retained its position as the 2nd best-selling scooter in India with an MoM growth of 19.6 percent and a 27.4 percent YoY growth.

1. Honda Activa 6G & 125

Activa 6G Engine: 109.51cc air-cooled single-cylinder

Power Output: 7.84PS at 8,000rpm and 8.90Nm at 5,500rpm

Activa 125 Engine: 124cc air-cooled single-cylinder

Power Output: 8.3PS at 6,250rpm and 10.4Nm at 5,000rpm

The Honda Activa range continues to dominate the Indian scooter market with a whopping 2,27,458 units sold, of both Honda Activa 6G and Activa 125, in the month of August 2024. The Activa range remains the untouched segment leader with a 16.2 percent MoM growth and a 5.8 percent YoY growth in its sales.
