Old-school or modern-day classic, which stands out on the paper? Let’s find out

RE Bullet 350 vs Jawa 42 FJ

The Royal Enfield Bullet 350 and the Jawa 42 FJ are two modern-classic machines that offer a strong brand legacy. However, both serve their neo-retro intent in quite different styles. While one is glued to its authenticity and old-school charm, the other infuses modern hardware and performance into its vintage-inspired styling. You can’t go wrong with either for that nostalgic feel, but choosing one depends on how you would like your ride to feel on the road. That’s where this detailed comparison of both will help you find the machine that suits your personality better:

    RE vs Jawa

    Verdict

While belonging to the same category and price segment, both motorcycles clearly have quite contrasting personalities. The Royal Enfield Bullet 350 feels traditional and timeless not only design-wise,  but also because of its riding experience. It's comfortable, easy-going, and offers an unmatched heritage value.

The Jawa 42 FJ, on the other hand, offers strong performance and more dynamic handling, with a neo-retro appeal. Its advanced hardware, paired with a modern finish, makes it a sportier, youthful classic machine. The decision comes down to whether you prefer the purist's classic feel or an added hint of sportiness.

    Other Rivals

While the Bullet and Hunter 350 are based on the same platform, they cater to two completely different audiences.

The Bullet 350 and CB350 H’ness may look somewhat similar at first glance, but they couldn't be more different from each other.

The Speed T4 and Bullet 350 are retro roadsters from two legacy British brands made in India.

Both the Bullet and Meteor are Royal Enfield 350cc bikes on paper, but that’s where the similarities end.

Between the Bullet 350 and Jawa 350, the Jawa offers better highway performance.

    • Jawa 42 FJ
My 1 year Riding Experience and Review
I bought the Jawa 42 FJ in October'24 shortly after its launch. It was my first bike, the main reason I went for it was that it's one of the most appealing bike in 350cc segment -- particularly because of stylish looks, riding comfort, safety and the soul that feels truly alive. I have ridden it for around 3500KM over the last year, This bike is very stable thus gives excellent high-speed handling. The mileage is also good -- I've been getting mileage of around 20-22km/l. But when it comes to safety, this bike is highly reliable which sets it apart in its class. I had an incident where another biker, coming from opposite direction at high speed crashed directly into my bike, yet my bike remained fully stable. Its standard Jawa leg guard and sump guard absorbed the entire impact and I didn't get a single scratch on my body. I got my leg-guard and Sump guard replaced and my bike looks absolutely brand new. I would recommend the Jawa 42 FJ to anyone who has little to decent driving skills and prioritizes safety and riding comfort. This bike is good choice for the first time buyers and riders of mid-height -- I'm 5'8'' myself and never had any trouble handing it.
