Lightest Scooties In India: The First One Might Be Lighter Than You!
These are all scooties that literally anyone in your family can hop on and ride

Scooters have to be light. Be it the college-going daughter or the grandfather of the house, scooters are vehicles that everyone in the family use, meaning they have to be accessible. And lightness is a big part of that very accessibility. So if you’ve been looking for a light scooter to haul everyone in your family around, here’s a list of some of the lightest scooters in India:
6) Honda Activa 6G/Honda Dio 110 - 106kg

6th on this list are 2 Japanese scooters: the Activa 6G and the Dio 110, tipping the scales at 106kg. The Activa 6G is a household name in India and Honda has managed to sell a lot of them over the years. And it’s for obvious reasons. Combine its light weight with its affordable price tag and reliability, and you’ve a formula that has done quite well in our market.

The Dio 110, meanwhile, started out as a scooter for the enthusiast. When it first came out, its sporty looks were something us youngsters lusted after. And while the feelings are now not quite the same, it’s still quite a light and easy to ride scooter. You surely have other better options but the Dio still remains fairly accessible for everyone.
5) TVS Jupiter 110 Drum/Suzuki Access 125 Special/Ride Connect Edition - 105kg

Next on the list are the TVS Jupiter 110 (drum brake variant) and the Suzuki Access 125 (Special/Ride Connect edition). Both scooters probably had one less bowl of daal in their meals, meaning they tip the scales at 105kg, 1kg lighter than the Activa and the Dio. The Jupiter 110 is our absolute favourite in the 100cc segment by miles. A smooth engine, low seat height, tons of boot space, plenty of features, a super spacious seat and low kerb weight, what would you want from anything in this segment!

The Access 125 is a charming scooter and for a lot of us in the office, it’s our pick in the 125cc segment. And that’s because of how well it combines everyday practicality with a bit of fun. Meaning it’s perfectly suited for your parents to be taken out on those weekend grocery trips, and will continue being a fun scooter to ride even in the hands of the college going teen. The scooter filters through traffic like it weighs nothing (which is true) and it has a gem of an engine.
4) Hero Pleasure Plus - 104kg

The Hero Pleasure Plus is a slightly forgotten scooter in this segment. Between giants like the Honda Activa 6G and the TVS Jupiter 110, the Pleasure Plus doesn’t exactly have a USP that makes it stand out among others. That said, it’s still a light scooter that everyone in the family will get along with pretty well. The scooter feels genuinely light and it’s quite nice to ride in the city.
3) TVS Scooty Zest 110 - 103kg

Keeping the margins super tight, next on the list is the TVS Scooty Zest 110. Eating maybe a couple of chapatis less than the Pleasure Plus, it weighs a meagre 103kg. And the scooter is true to its name too, for the Zest is definitely a zesty little thing to ride in the city. The 103kg kerb weight figure feels even lesser when on the move and you can put this small scooter in the tiniest of gaps through the city. There’s a reason why the Zest 110 is still the go-to scooter for smaller-sized individuals, for its small size is extremely easy to get on with. In fact, we’ve seen households where even older grandparents are more than happy to ride their Zests around town. It might feel slightly dated among today’s modern scooters, but there’s no doubting the Zest’s zest.
2) Yamaha RayZR Street Rally 125 Hybrid/ RayZR 125Fi Hybrid - 99kg
The two Yamahas here haven’t just skipped daal or chapatis over the Zest 110. It seems like they’ve had a meal consisting only of green vegetables and fruits because at 99kg, they’re a solid 4kg lighter than the Zest. When the margins are this fine, 4kg is not a small amount. And both the RayZR Street Rally 125 Hybrid and RayZR 125Fi Hybrid feel that because they’re incredibly lithe things.

While they’re also not meant for super tall things, anyone in our office under 5’9 was very happy riding these scooters. They’re absolutely tiny and change directions if you even breathe a bit too hard. Couple that with the scooters’ ultra efficient hybrid system and you’ve a light and fuel efficient scooter in hand. It’s a win win!
1) Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid - 98kg
And just when you thought scooters couldn’t get any lighter, here comes the Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid. Yamaha has kept the strictest diet for the Fascino, ensuring it’s ready to enter the supermodelling world of scooters. Jokes aside, it doesn’t get any better than the Fascino.

In fact, we’ve seen cases where newer riders have had inevitable tumbles on their Fascinos and what can be a slightly unnerving incident, turns out to be okay. Because the scooters are so light, they’re a lot easier to pick up and that means newer riders get that moment to just sit and take deep breaths. They can soak in what in the world just happened around them and once that’s done, they can just pick the scooter up and get going. We really enjoyed our time on the Fascino each time it was in the office.
Special Mention: TVS XL100 Heavy Duty - 88kg

We know this list is about scooters but if you want something that’s light and can really haul things around, you just can’t miss out the TVS XL100. The moped’s Heavy Duty variant tips the scales at a featherweight 88kg. And that means it’s quite likely that the moped will be lighter than the person sitting on it. It’s a lot more utilitarian and less fancy than the scooters in this list but one thing’s for sure, and it’s that the XL100 will get your job done, no matter what.
