Hero Glamour 125: Old Vs New - Differences Explained
The Glamour X 125 is a much better deal for just a few thousand rupees more

Hero recently launched the Glamour X 125 in India, priced at Rs 89,999 for the drum variant and Rs 99,999 for the disc. That makes it just a few thousand rupees more expensive than the base Glamour drum priced Rs 87,798 and the Glamour Xtec disc priced at Rs 95,098 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). We’re comparing the base Glamour and Xtec Disc as they are closely related to the respective drum and disc variants of the Glamour X 125. Here are the key differences:

Design
The original Hero Glamour has a basic, no-nonsense functional commuter styling with simple graphics, while Xtec Disc looks a bit sportier with its modern design and LED headlight with a ‘H’ pattern.

The new Glamour X 125 gets a redesigned tank with a metallic “Glamour” badge and bold “X” logo. The disc variant further upgrades to all-LED lighting and premium switchgear borrowed from Hero’s bigger bikes. All in all, the Glamour X 125 looks a bit more modern and sleeker than the older versions in our opinion.

Engine
The Glamour and the Hero Glamour Xtec both use a 124.7cc, air-cooled engine that makes 10.53PS at 0,7500rpm and 10.4Nm at 6,000rpm, and paired to a 5-speed gearbox.

The new X 125 shares its engine with the Hero Xtreme 125R - same engine as the above two but re-tuned to produce 11.55PS at 8,250 rpm and 10.5Nm at 6,500 rpm. Here, it gains a counter-balancer shaft in the engine, and plays a big role in reducing vibrations.

Underpinnings
All 3 versions of the Hero Glamour bikes have the same diamond frame, 30mm telescopic fork, twin shocks with 5-step adjustability, 10-litre fuel tank, 18-inch alloy wheels with a 80-section front and 100-section rear tyre - both tubeless.

The ground clearance of 170mm is common between the Glamour and the X 125, while the Xtec has 180mm of it. Here’s how much all the variants of the Glamour weigh:

Features

The Glamour drum gets a basic semi-digital console, halogen lights, electric start and CBS (combined braking system) - that’s about it. The Hero Glamour X 125 drum meanwhile gets a 5-inch colour LCD console with Bluetooth, turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts, gear position indicator, distance-to-empty, and more. It has an LED headlight, though the tail light and indicators are still halogen.

Coming to the Glamour Xtec Disc, it gets a fully digital console shared with the Hero XPulse 200 4V and gets bluetooth connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation, mileage readouts, and more. This also has an LED headlight, but the rest is halogen.

The X 125 disc is a big step up and it gets cruise control, panic braking alert, all-LED lighting, and 3 ride modes: Eco, Rain, Power. It also gets the same 5-inch colour-LCD smartphone connected console that’s shared with bigger bikes like the Karizma XMR, Xtreme 250R and Hero XPulse 210.

The price difference between old and new isn’t huge: Rs 2,201 for the drum and Rs 4,901 for the disc. For just a few thousand rupees more, the X 125 makes even the Xtec feel a little outdated, thanks to the LCD console, cruise control, ride modes, and more power - all worth paying extra for.

The only real miss? No ABS, even on the disc; But given the segment-first features, the new Glamour X 125 clearly raises the bar for 125cc commuters in India. We’d recommend going for the front disc brake equipped versions only as it is a lot safer than drum brake variants. While the Xtec disc is still reasonably feature packed, the small premium for the X 125 Disc makes for a much better value-for-money bike.

Hero also offers the standard Glamour with a front disc brake (Rs 91,798), as well as the Xtec variant with a front drum brake (Rs 90,498, both ex-showroom Delhi). That said, with the launch of the Glamour X 125 range, those two variants seem irrelevant now.
